Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

How has your Locks or Sisterlocks Changed You?

Over the years I realize more and more how my life has changed. I will not give all the credit to my locks but it has made an impact on my life and how I view things or people!
I think my locks have changed me into a more positive person, to the point that I want to take better care of my hair of course. Better care of myself in all aspects and most important better care of my family!
It has even gave me a boost in my self esteem, not that I had any problems in that area. However now I walk around knowing that I am the ish! LOL. Naw for real it made me love my hair for what it really is and not be ashame of it!
I never thought that I would go natural. I always admired people who did but was too afraid to do it for myself just because the knowledge wasn''t there and because I was afraid of what other's would say! I have to give Nappturality credit for providing people like me with so much knowledge about natural hair.

Going natural was somewhat an accident, it wasn't intentional at first. I just got tired of perming my hair. I never showed my real hair so what was the point of me coontinuing to damage it with the creamy crack! So months went on with out a perm. Then my DH put a bug in my ear. He basically said why don't you just go natural and get dreads as he called them. I always thought that I wouldn't look good with locks (dreads), they only fit certain people and plus I didn't want to carry the stereotypes that went along with females who had locks (dreads). I guess you can say I was being shallow. However as time went on I thought about it. I decided I was going to stop perming my hair, however I had no idea what to do with my hair so I continued to wear braids and styles that covered my natural hair. Eventually I found out about Sisterlocks while at work. I seen a woman with the most beautiful locks! Thats when I fell in love with Sisterlocks! I was so amazed at how tiny they were! I have to admit when I had a chance to talk with her I asked her all the silly questions that people now ask me. From that moment on I knew what I wanted to do with my hair. There were no ifs, ands or buts about it. I was on my way to figure out how to get Sisterlocks. The only thing that I wish I would've done was more research about Sisterlocks and there different sizes, I should have interviewed more consultants as well. But overall I have no regrets!

Sorry I don't have any recent pics. I guess I need to work on that! My locks are pretty much all over the place in this pic, but I like it though!

As of now even at 20 months all of my locks are not locked. I have came to accept that it will take a while and I'm okay with that. However I did start using the Knotty Boy Shampoo Bar and it has helped tremendously with the locking process. I'm starting to see more balls form on the locks that werent locking and I am pleased. I still have a few locks that I don't like majority of them are in the front, several of those locks have broken off and I'm not sure why. I was at the point that I even wanted to cut all my locks off and start over, but then I said why punish all my locks for a few bad ones. After all it is only hair and it will eventually grow back!
So overall I'm in love with my hair and I'm driving my DH crazy about it because eveytime he turns around I'm either talking about my hair, doing something to my hair, or buying something for my hair. Sisterlocks are beautiful! What do you expect? I never cared this much about my hair. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. I hope to become like Brunsli one day, to where I'm so over my hair. However I'm sorry to say that I don't see that happening anytime soon! Lol

So I ask how has your locks changed you?
Until next time much love!

Tagged!

Tagged By Locsuluv and

here are the rules: (1) Link to the person that tagged you. Which I did above. (2) Post the rules on your blog. (3) Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself. (4) Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs. (5) Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. Now let's have some fun

This is the third time around playing this game and I have been tagged twice! Okay lets see what I can come up with.

1. I'm a nurse. I love taking care of people. I 'm still farely new I graduated in early 06. However I have taken quite some time off due to my complications of my pregnancy. I have been chillaxing ever since but I do look forward going back to work. My favorite department that I work in is Cardiovascular.I worked in the step down unit for patients who underwent Heart Surgery/Transplant or anything dealing with the heart. I love the heart. It is something so small but yet so complicated and very important to the human body. I love the challenge. Last year I wanted to go back to school and start on my Bachelors but due to my pregnancy I put it on hold. However this is a new year and I hope to start or get started before this year is over. I have dreams of becoming a Nurse Practioner( dealing with cardiovascular of course) or even more challenging a Nurse Anesthesiologist ( plus they make more money too! Lol)

2. I can't stand when people are walking behind me or standing directly on my ass while waiting in a line. I know it sounds silly but I hate it. Like for instance your in line waiting in the post office and someone is like right there up on you. Why? I guess they think they will get there faster. Or Walking in a mall or anywhere I always let the person that is walking right behind me go ahead in front of me. I know I need help!

3. I love attention although I may put on a front and act like I'm shy. I'm really not. Before college I always used to be afraid to approach a guy, but after my friends gave me a lil pep talk to be bold. The old Valencia went out the window. Lets just say I had the mentality of a man back in my college days and I have no regrets!;)

4. I played in the movie "Drumline". I was attending Bethune Cookman-College( now known as Bethune Cookman University) at the time and also being a proud member of the Marching Band also known asMarching Wildcats or "The Pride". We got a chance to play in the movie. It was such a great experience. We were and still is the baddest band on the planet! To let you know how good we are we only had to do our scene take 3 times, while other bands did it over and over and over again. (We had our ish on point). I miss band so much. I guess you can say I'm a band freak/nerd. I can't help it, I have been playing instruments for over 10 years! I so can't wait to go to The Classic this year!

This is a pic of me in half of my uniform either before or after a football game.

5. I don't celebrate any holidays that are not in the Bible.I don't look down on people that do. Freedom of religion right? The only days that I find that are necessarily important are the feast days and the sabbath. Which you can find in Leviticus Chapter 23 and 24

6. As you all know I love the color purple. These are a few things that I own that are purple.

*Purle Checks & Checkbook
*Purple High Heels
*Purple Purse to go with those high heels
*Purple Scarf
*Purple Clothes (Several)
*Purple Tomoka's Twist & Earrings
*Purple Klaus Kobec Watch
*Purple People Heater (I finally got one!)
*I even had Purple Prescription Eye Contacts. (I know I took it too far!)
I know I have other things but I can't think of them now.

Lets see who will be next?

Purehappyness , Eyedinity , Ayankah , Malaikablu , Journeii , Kalia Dewdrop
