Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

New Sisterlocks: Installation Date Set!

Throwback Pic: My New Locks in June 2006

Well...Folks,

I finally gave in... got a consultation and scheduled a day for my Sisterlocks to be re-installed. I CAN NOT WAIT! I'm so excited.

My initial plan was to wait until my thinning/balding spots grew in long enough to lock. However it is taking too long and I don't have the patience anymore. I really didn't want to go the route of using a hair piece for those thin areas but as of now that's MY only option.  Sure I can do without the hairpiece but for new Sisterlocks their will be too much scalp showing and I'm not sure if I can deal with that.

After giving it some thought and realizing that I have to use a hairpiece anyway... I probably should have kept my Sisterlocks in the first place. However I'm not going to let that get me down, it is only hair. It will grow back and has,  it's just taking it's sweet ole time. I often forget how many imperfections that I had with my locks after looking back at the photos I don't regret starting over.

I'm glad I got to know my loose natural hair for the first time because, I have learned a lot about my hair. I have  two-three different hair types. Which is crazy I thought I only had one.... which was NAPPY, lol. I learned what products worked best for me. I've also realized that I really DON'T care to comb my hair.

I really wanted to get this party started because my hair started breaking off on the ends. (Because I wasn't combing it). So I cut and 1/2 to 1 inches of hair off all around in hopes of stopping the breakage. Well that only solved my problem temporarily because the breakage started again. I was tired of it... I would rather have my hair break off in a lock which actually goes no where... but makes your locks grow longer. Then for my hair to fall off in a comb or floor!

Anyhow enough chit chat... I have died my hair an interesting color... tried to rectify it buy coloring it again but made it even more interesting and I'm going to leave it alone, don't think my hair can take much more chemicals. As of now majority of my hair is 3 1/2 to 4 inches.. and the bald/thin areas are at least 1/2 inch to an 1 inch.

Dr. JoAnne Cornwell

Is the answer to that last post.

I am so honored that I met the creator of Sisterlocks in person. It was a joyous surprise. She's like a celebrity, lol!

Here is a better picture of her locks

Her locks are gorgeous! I want locks like hers when mine grow up!

Anyhow, I have so much more to blog about. Something that I can't wait to share. But too tired to do it. Just had to get that out there. More to come so stay tuned!

Until next time much love!
