Styling

I have finally came to the conclusion that I want to get into styling....

I'm sure some of  my clients will come to the point that they will want to get something more done to their locks besides a retightening. So I want to learn and start styling their locks so they can have that option.

Lucky for me You Tube has lots of videos I can learn from, and thankfully most of my clients have patience for me to try styles on their locks, lol.

My first style attempt was spider braids on my mother. I learned of this style from another Sisterlocks Consultant on Facebook by the name of Tanisha.


My mother was my first victim, I mean first person at attempting this style.

I think this style came out pretty good for it to be my first try.

As for my next style. This client asked for an up-do and this is what came to mind.

I think this style also came out nice, when it came to the top I really wasn't sure what to do with it but overall it was a decent style.

Well hopefully one day I will post pics of my own locks styled... don't hold your breath, lol.

I plan to be back sooner than later.

Sistelocks @ 3 Months

Finally an update on my hair.

I'm not really feeling my hair right now, lol. So that's why I don't post much.

My locks are doing ok, just wished they would lock already, I ALWAYS have slippage because my locks are  rebellious! I have dry scalp and combination of dandruff and it has seem to gotten worse now that the weather is trying to change! Nothing works! So I just suffer having snow falling from my scalp!

Anyhow one day my consultant decided to put in Bantu Knots for me after a retightening. I must say they actually came out nice. With my first set of locks me and Bantu Knots did not get along. I tried the style like 2 or 3 times during the whole 4 years, lol.

My Bantu Knots were set on dry hair and I took them out the next morning. The curls came out really nice and my curls lasted a few days!

Change of subject. I started to take charge of my health again.(Yay me!)

I've also started walking/running again with a goal to become a TRUE runner, lol. I have gotten out of control with my weight, and eating healthy alone without exercising does nothing for me so I had to start putting in the work. Couldn't wait until the New Year's had to get a head start!

Bantu ------> Not

Ok for some reason bantu knots/knot outs are not for me, lol. My bantu-knots did not turn out like I hoped they would. This was my 3rd attempt in all my locked years. They say practice makes perfect,  I guess I need to keep practicing, lol.

The problems I ran into
1) Some knots where to tight and some were too loose. Majority of them were too tight. I had them so tight that it caused a headache, and even so my head was hurting days after I took them down. Never again will  I torture myself. I left them in even when they were hurting because I wanted them to come out perfect, but that didn't happen.
2) I let my hair get too dry. It takes my hair forever to air dy now, so when ever I do braidouts or roller sets.  I let my locks dry a bit before I set them, however this time I let my locks get too dry, specially on the ends because they didn't have any curls when I took the bantu-knots down.
3)I did a single strand twist when I probably should have done a two strand twist, however I think the real problem was letting my hair get too dry.

What have I learned for my next attempt.
1) Do not make the bantu knots too tight to the point of causing headaches
2)Leave my hair a little damp, or if get s too dry, wet it again.
3)Try two-strand twists instead
4)Take my time setting the bantu-knots( I was kind of in a rush)

Do you single strand twist or two strand twist your hair/locks before putting them in bantu knots?

Do you see the curls? Of course you don't!
The curls that did come out werent too bad. I figure if I had done the bantu-knots properly I would have liked the results. I haven't given up I will attempt this look some time in the future!

Anyhow now on to my next style attempt. It may be a while.
 I'm installing Sisterlocks in my daughter's hair and Brotherlocks in my hubby's hair. So excited!

Pipe Cleaners

After several attempts of using pipe cleaners for curls in the past, I had decided to give them up because they were not producing the results that I was looking for.

Until I came across Loc Rocker's Blog she had posted a great tutorial of a fellow locker using pipe cleaners.

Her locks are absolutely fabulous!

I am so thankful for this video. I decided to curl my hair right after a wash. I followed the video tutorial exactly. Since it was the weekend and really didn't go anywhere I left the pipe cleaners in for like two days. Then when I finally took them out I left them as is. Turns out I really loved the results, I couldn't believe my eyes with the kind of curls I got. It looked like my locks were still on the pipe cleaners. I then walked around with my curls untouched for a couple more days. After about day 3 I couldn't resist, I wanted to see what my curls looked like separated. I was res really happy with the results, overall! This time it was a much better experience. I received alot of compliments. In fact these are my curls of choice at the moment. I have learned that it is all in the technique.

The only downside is due to the fact that I have several new locks in the front of my head, the curls were not as full and long, but it's okay. They will grow back soon enough.

I have realized that some may not have never seen pipe cleaners or know what they actually are so I decided to post a pic and some small info. I'm not really sure were the term pipe cleaners come from, but I have learned that it is also called chenille which is a type of corded yarn. They are soft and bendable, you can shape them anyway you'd like, you can cut them as well. You can find "pipe cleaners" or chenille from any arts and craft store or even the arts and craft section in Walmart. I really hope this helps with those who have questions. Also can anyone tell me from were the term pipe cleaners originated from. Were these things actually used to clean out small pipes? Just wondering.

ONE YEAR!

No it's not my hair lockversary, again. But rather it's been a year since I took doing my hair into my own hands. If you have been following my blog from the beginning you would know why I took this challenge. A challenge it was, but overall it was well worth it. Nothing feels greater than being able to do your own hair, and when someone ask's who does your hair, you reply by saying "me". Then they have that surprised look on their face and start to ask you a million questions, lol.

This is a pick of my hair when I wash my hair with the Knotty Boy Shampoo Bar. I think it is a great shampoo bar and it lasts forever! I bought my bar almost a year ago and I just finished it last month. (Although I didn't use the bar to shampoo my hair everytime I washed, it still lasted a long time!)


When I first started doing my hair it would take me forever (meaning a couple of days to do my hair) Now it only takes me one, only when I'm pushing for that goal. However due to the fact that I have 2 small kids to look after it has been hard. I still don't know how many hours it ususally takes me. My hair is due for a retightening maybe this time around I will time myself. I will admit at times I do miss someone being able to retighten my hair in less time, but I don't miss all the headache I had. I wonder if I seeked another consultant to retighten my locks, would I get the 3rd degree. I just want them to do my hair, not ask me personal questions about why I stopped seeing my first consultant. Anywho maybe one day.



Throughout the months I have learned alot of things about my hair. I have realized that my hair needs to be retightened in 3-4 weeks. I have also learned that my hair needs and loves conditioner. I have gone through some thinning issues, in which I have had to combine some locks, and I'm finally okay with it. My edges are starting to grow back, so now I just have to wait and be patient for them to fill back in and then start new baby locks. I'm so ready to add some new color to my hair but I know my hair isn't ready yet. I initially wanted to color my hair on my 2 year lockversary but moved it back to my 3 year mark, because I don't think my hair was ready. I honestly don't know if I could wait that long. Until then I'll be researching colors. I know I coudln't post without pictures so here are a few shots of a braid out that I did a few weeks ago. I think it turned out pretty good. I also did a soft spike set but it didn't turn out that great because I didn't leave the curlers in long enough, next time I'll be patient!

The Illusionist

Okay so I have came to terms that my hair is NOT thick nor will it ever be. However this is the healthiest my hair has ever been so I shouldn't complain. I should be happy that I still have some hair left due to all the damage and mistreatment that I put my hair through! Anyhow so since I don't have thick hair I have learned ways to make my hair appear full. Roller sets are my favorite they really create the illusion that my hair is full. Also twist outs and braid outs work as well. As long as my hair is not straight it looks fuller! (In the side pic this is how my hair looks when nit is wet, flat and thin like paper, lol)


Lately I still have been thinking about starting my lock over. I'm still not happy with some of my locks in the front. Some have broken off(Which I think is due to the dye that I put in before I initially got my locks)Don't worry this hasn't happen recently but has happened over the years. Anyhow it just seems that my hair is really week in the front. For instance before I had my daughter I had started 5 new baby locks and soon after they all disappeared! No seriously is like they fell out one by one. Is there anything out there that can help my thinned and weak edges? Please let a sista know. I've decided that I will wait another year and if I'm still not completely happy with my locks I may start them over. I'm not sure which route I may go but it may be Braidlocks or Sisterlocks. ( In this pic I'm trying a bantu set the results are in the pics below with different styles).

Okay enough of my soap box. Don't get me wrong, overall I do love my hair this is the healthiest and longest my hair has ever been. So going natural was the greatest thing I ever did and I wouldn't have it any other way! I am fast approaching my 2 year mark which is next month and my locks are still not 100% locked, it's okay I'm over it. I had to combine a few more of my locks in the front due to the thinness so hopefully that should help. Retightenings still take me forever. I have learned waiting 8 weeks in between IS NOT for me. I HAVE to retighten my hair every 4 weeks, no matter what! I really wanted to dye my hair for my 2 year anniversary but I really don't think that is a good idea so I'll wait a little while longer. Overall I think my hair is doing pretty good I just probably need to take a chill pill!

Below are the results of my Bantu Knots. They came out really good in the front and the top but in the back the curls dropped pretty quick.



On to other things remember when I said I was going to start running? I was serious. I have started running and I recently just ran my first 5K! I had such a great experience! My intentions was to run and walk during the race but due to all the excitement and all the other runners. I couldn't stop my body wouldn't let me! So I ran the whole race. For those that don't know a 5K is 3.1 miles! I can't believe that I ran the whole thing, I am still amazed. And another thing it only took me 35 mins! I think that is an awesome time for a beginner like me! I'm officially addicted to running! Me and DH( his first) are suppose to run in another race next month and I can't wait! As for weight loss still working on that I have loss a total of 19 pounds so far, still have a lot more to go but I think I'm on the right path now!


Speaking of DH he decided to try this locking process one more time. ( They say the third time is a charm) We shall see. This time he decided to go the braidlock method. The only thing we are concerned about is his ends. To all you braidlockers out there or to who any that may know. What do you do with them. His hair is so puffy at then ends. As of now he has rubber bands on the ends to keep them from coming a loose but I'm not sure if that will help. So if you have any suggestions please be sure to leave a comment. He was not concerned about having neat parts so it was just a grab and braid routine. I think that they may turn out nice if he decides to keep them. His last attempts didn't last more than two months so I'm not holding my breath. If this does last I'll be sure to update, if you don't see any updates you know that it didn't last.

Sorry for the long post I had so mcuh to update you all on. I recently started back working so thats why I have been MIA. I'll try not to be a stranger and plus next month will be two years so I have to come back! Lol Anyhow I hope all is well with everyone. Take Care

Brunsli's Hair Ties

Now it's been a while since I sported a B-Hair Tie. When I first got my Sisterlocks and being the product junkie that I USED to be ( I've slowed down tremendously). I purchased close to 10 B-Hair Ties . I have lost count but I know I'm sure to have close to 15 now. I was trying to buy everything out there for my hair not knowing any better at the time, that it was important to just let my hair do what it's suppose to do on it's own. Anyhow back to the story when I first got my Sisterlocks I purchased several of Brunsli's Hair Ties. At that time I couldn't wear them the way I wanted which was up in a pony tail or pineapple. I had even got creative shown in this post. I remember Goodnapps and Brunsli mentioned that I could wear them as headbands instead. I was relieved so I did that for a while. However I eventually stopped wearing my B-Hair Ties not because I wanted to, but because I let them get tangled up. *Note to ladies out there who have several hair ties please keep them in their separate bags or use a tie rack ( which I have yet to buy). It will keep things a lot easier.

Since I have noticed that my hair has grown I decided to start wearing my B-Hair Ties again. I only managed to get a few loose. I'm still working on the rest. ( That's hard work trying to untangle all of those hair ties, lol) Here in this pic I'm wearing one of my favorites. I forgot the name sorry. However it is lovely and I love the way my hair fits up into a hair tie now so I will be posting more pics as I continually try to untangle my other hair ties. I must go out and get a tie rack ASAP before I have to go through this again. The only thing that has stopped me from buying more hair ties at the moment is because I said I wouldn't purchase anymore until I get the others untangled ( it's been a while). When I do finally master that task watch out Brunsli because I have been keeping my eye out on e-bay! (lol) Anyhow just thought I share. If you haven't purchased a Brunsli Hair Tie yet what are you waiting for they really come in handy! Until next time much love.

"I Like Your Sisterlocks"

Yesterday I was having a good hair day all though when I first woke up my hair was a little dry so I decided to spritz it with Oyin's Greg Juice. It really lifted my hair up. I actually purchased this product a long time ago when my locks weren't ready for it so I have been patiently waiting to use it. Even though it has been a year I still use it sparingly but it does wonders for my hair. You know me I 'm good at sporting a freestyle so I just added a head band and was on my way to Wally World ( aka Wal-Mart). I had to do a little shopping. Out of no where this lady passes by and says "I like your Sisterlocks". I thanked her for the compliment. I was actually in shock because no one has ever said that to me before. I was amazed that a complete stranger knew that I had Sisterlocks. Could it be that my Sisterlocks are actually starting to look like locks? Or could it be that this lady has been researching the style and knows all about them. Anyhow she did start asking questions like who did my hair, how much she charged and how long did it take. We might have another new Sisterlocker soon. Well we can only hope for the best.


PRODUCT REVIEW
I want to give a shot out to my girl Goodnapps and Sunsail for recommending Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo. At first I didn't think that this product would work for me because I have dandruff pretty bad and not everything works for everybody. However being the product junkie that I am I just had to give it a try and plus I got tired of greasing my scalp with the greasy stuff called Top Brass Anti Dandruff Cream.( Don't get me wrong the product does work, I just got tired of greasing my hair so often) Despite the price of the product it is well worth it.It also smells good, it doesn't smell like most medicated shampoos which is great. I have only used Nizoral twice and it seems to have done the trick. I haven't seen any dandruff yet. My dandruff was so bad that even after I washed my hair thoroughly, I would still see dandruff like I didn't even attempt to wash my hair. As of right now I wash my hair once a week( Due to the fact that I go to the beach every week.) However when I don't go to the beach or the pool I would like to change my washing routine to every 2 weeks. Anyhow if there are any other sisters out there that has a problem with dandruff. I say you should give Nizoral a try it just might work for you as well. Anyhow just thought I drop by and share that info. Until next time much love!

1 Year Loc-Versary

I am surprised that it's been a year already, I am also happy with my Sisterlocks. My hair has really made a transformation. A transformation that I thought would never come. Before I went natural I had issues with my hair, I had very thin hair. I have had thin hair almost my whole life. When I first got Sisterlocks I was skeptical about the thinness and spaces but my consultant Alandria assured me that it would change I just had to be patient and boy was she right. Slowly but surely my locks started making changes and as I look back I can't believe that it is such a big difference. Getting Sisterlocks was and still is the best decisions that I have ever made for my hair. I wish that I would've done it sooner. Getting Sisterlocks was the best choice for me although I love any type or style of locks. I love Sisterlocks for their size and how their method of locking allows you to wash your hair.




Here is a collage of my Sisterlocks one year ago. My first week I must admit I was afraid to wear my Sisterlocks in public because of the spaces and the thinness so I wore a wig but I got tired of that quickly.



This is a collage of my Sisterlocks now. I think they have really thickened up and have filled in nicely. What do you think? I'm just glad that I didn't give up and hung in there. ( Paying all that money to have them installed wouldn't allow me to give up anyway! lol)


As of now my Sisterlocks are doing pretty well. Despite that I don't think that I have been paying them much attention lately. (Due to severe morning sickness). I still have thin edges but other than that everything else is okay. I still have to braid and band. I wonder how long will it take for me to be fully locked? I still have a some unsealed ends and I'm not sure what to do with them, does anyone have any suggestions? During this time I decided that I need to start taking better care of my Sisterlocks like I'm suppose to as far as wash them when needed, grease my scalp when needed (I have dandruff problems), and treat them to a nice style every now and then (they deserve it lol).



Here is a pic of the products I use. The first is a spray bottle with Apple Cider Vinegar. I use this because it helps with cleaning my scalp and my dandruff problems. I use this one to two times a month. The next is the Sisterlocks Salon Formula Shampoo I have finally graduated from the Starter Shampoo. This shampoo lasts a very long time using the spray bottles are very good idea. The next is Avalon Organics Clarifying Shampoo it's the Lemon with Shea Butter. I absolutely love this shampoo it leaves my locks feeling so great and clean it is very refreshing. I think BlaqKofi recommended this product, thanks Blaq! Next is Top Brass Anti-Dandruff this is a very good product and it works when you use it! (Note to self use this product more often to help control dandruff) Next I have Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Temple Balm , I have thin edges so I hope this product works. I heard great reviews about this product, only if I would use this more often as well maybe I would be able to tell a difference. Last but not least Jamaican Mango & Lime Shine-A-Loc. I used this product for the first time yesterday it smells so good and it really moisturizes my locks I just love it. Now I have to refrain myself from using it everyday, lol.




Being that my 1 year loc-versary was a special occasion I decided to treat myself and go shopping. So I headed out to Sally's. I finally bought my self a Caruso Steam Rollers Set and I can't wait to use it. I also purchased a Turbie -Twist I heard so much about them. I also decided to purchase some more hard rollers because every time I go to roll my hair with my old ones I always find less and less rollers, plus these are a little larger which means bigger curls and bigger bounce! Once again the Jamaican Mango & Lime Shine-A-Loc. I know I hear people say to stay away from oils and such because our hair produces its own oils but I couldn't resist I just had to and I'm glad that I did.

Well I think I've written more than enough this should make up for my long absence! Lol. I'm glad to be back. Just an update I did have a talk with my consultant about getting my hair wet in the pool and beach water and she said it was fine as long as I braided and banded and washed my hair thoroughly afterwards. I was relieved now I can go on with my Summer without any worries! I also asked my consultant about coloring my hair but I have to wait until I'm fully locked, I think I can manage until then.

9 Month Mark! & Hair Update!

Hey to all my Sista's & Brotha's out there I hope all is well. I know its been a minute since I've blogged. I have been so very busy. I haven't been on in a while and it feels like I've missed out on so much! Anyhow it is now 9 months for me it's hard to believe because it feels like only yesterday since I got my Sisterlocks installed for the first time! Having Sisterlocks is such a wonderful feeling. I feel free. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and not have to worry about doing your hair. Having Sisterlocks saves so much time that you can spend on other things. I have learned so much during this journey and the most important thing I've learned was patience! About a week or two ago I had my hair retightened and my consultant updated me about my hair. Basically everything is cool I just have to be more patient because its taking my hair a little longer than I had planned to lock! I can honestly say that I think I have about 2 or 3 locks that are fully locked! Maybe more but I know that its not more than 10! lol. I still have to braid and band alot of my ends are still not sealed! However I have graduated from the Starter Shampoo to the Salon Shampoo Aloe Formula. I was happy to hear that! I found out that my hair is alot softer than what I thought which was the total opposite very hard! Lol, My consultant told me what the deal was. It feels good to know that I have soft hair, I guess that explains why my hair is taking a long time to lock. She also informed me that the Aloe Formula was better for me because the Green Tea formula would make my hair too soft which is not what I need right now. My consultant did say that it would kind of be hard for my hair to come out right now which is good to hear! So right now all is well with my hair and I'm loving every minute of it!






I plan to take the retigthening class down here next month. I'm really excited about it. (I know Lashunae said she was thinking about taking the class too, so Lashunae if your still on I look forward to meeting you. Anyways I have to admit I was afraid to tell my consultant at first because I wasn't sure how she would take it. She took it pretty good and I'm glad that she didn't get offended or upset in fact she said that I should go that if I went it would be a good experience and I would learn many things.

My favorite hair style right now is me setting my hair on hard rollers. My hair comes out so soft with large curls and my locks have alot of bounce and body now which is great! I can't keep my hands out of my hair and sometimes I can't stop myself from swinging my head just so I can feel my locks moving back and forth!lol (I've noticed that my hair has gotten longer which is another great feeling. I have yet to measure it yet). Anyhow for those who look at my fotki. I'm in the process right now of getting that together. I will blog again when I'm finally finished and you let you all have a look at the updates!


Also just a small update I'm loving my new house right now it's wonderful(I have my own closet!)It's a whole lot more cleaning but it's worth it. Another small update on my weight loss so far I have lost 8.6 pounds in 1 month it was 10 but then i gained a pound in a half at the last minute but 8 is still good. Anyhow I must go now and try to catch up on every one's blog you all have a good one and until next time much love!

7 Month Update!

Well I know I'm a little bit late but I have reached my 7 months. These past few months since I've been Sisterlocked time has really gone by fast. I am really enjoying my journey thus far. I had a few ups and downs but I always tell my self that it is just hair and as long as I'm doing what I'm suppose to do then thats all I can do. I also learned that hair has a mind of its own and that it will do whatever it wants, so I just let it be! However everything is okay for now. I recently had my Sisterlocks retightened and my consultant said everything was cool to keep doing what I'm doing! Unfortunately I still have to braid and band and I still have to use the SisterLock Starter Shampoo. My loc that was split at the root was repaired thank God. My consultant also noticed that my dry scalp issues where starting to come back and stated that I should use the Top-Brass a lil more often. I thought my scalp was fine, but it is hard to see your own scalp sometimes! So I will take the advice and do as told. I notice that I'm starting to bud a little more, I also noticed that the locks in the back are locking quicker to, I think they will end up sealing first. My locks on the left side seem thicker and puffier than the right side. I don't know whats going with my locks at times, but I guess it will do whatever it's suppose to do in it's own time! I just have to be patient. I really look forward to do the day that my Locks fully mature.



Well anyways I attemtped to style my hair once again. I usually only do this once or twice a month then I'm back to freestylin. However I keep hearing that less is best so maybe I'll chill out with the styling for a minute. I also heard that using less products is best too. Being the product junkie that I am! lol. I'm surprise that I am following that rule! Anyways back to my style attempt. I decided to flat twist my hair in a snake pattern while keeping my hair and twist connected in one( I hope I explained that clearly). Anyways I decided that this style needed some curls so I curled my hair on perm rods and spritz my her with water.Now that I'm looking at this pic I should've done the twists a lil tighter, they look too loose, oh well I did say this was an attempt, lol. One hour later and this is the results. I was going for a bob type look. I think it turned out okay what do you all think! Well talk wiht you guys later. Much love!

Soft Spikes!!

Well I finally decided it was time to try my soft spikes! I knew I wanted to try them before the New Year I just didn't look forward to actually doing the labor! Anyhow it was time for me to wash my hair again so I took the opportunity. This time I actually decided to try the ACV rinse. I mixed it with water half and half and put it in a spray bottle. The spray bottle has become my bestfriend! It is so helpful and very good at distributing hair products all over the hair and scalp! I use them for my water spritz, my shampoo, and my ACV because that does not smell to good, so I decided that it should have its own bottle! Anyhow I was on lockitup the other day and someone gave advice to use a toothbrush with the ACV and scrub gently. That was great advice after using the ACV rinse my hair felt so clean and fresh I should've done this sooner because I have dry scalp problems! Anyhow I recommend the ACV Rinse to anyone who has problems with dry scalp or itching it really helps!



Now as far as the soft spikes. I think they are really great. Despite how many curlers I had in my hair they were very easy to sleep on! Now I'm not really sure how to use them yet. I 'm sure that I didn't curl all my locks in the same direction but that was okay as long as they got curled! I also wasn't sure how many locks to put on each roller but I think I used about 5-10 locks per curler. I also think that the tighter you curl your hair you get a tighter curl effect and the looser you curl your hair you get looser curl effect.



Next time I try it I will go for a looser effect! This time around I curled my locks real tight and they came out that way! I like it though it almost looks like I have an afro. I guess overtime my curls will fall! The pic of the first collage is with the curlers taken out and the last collage is pictures of my locks finger combed and spritzed! Well Today I think I had too much time on my hands so I decided to blog but then I needed something to blog about so I decided to take a few pictures of my self. Which I have fun doing if you all only knew how much pictures I have of myslef and of my hair you all would probably be in shock. Anyhow I decided to try to do something different to my hair. I decided to attempt to French Braid my hair beacuse in the past I wan't able to do so. ( My locks were much shorter) I am neither a braider nor a stylist so it was kind of hard at first but I think it came out alright due to my lack of brading skills? What do you all think?


Anyhow It seems like only yesterday that I orderd my Soft Spike Curlers and they came in the mail today. They really cought me by suprise I wasn't expecting them so soon. Anyhow I was happy to recieve them. I wanted to give them a try right then and there but I didn't have the time and I would really like to wash my hair first before I give those a try so I might have to wait a while but I did go ahead and test a few locks and I think that they came out nice. I ordered purple and black curlers because they are my favorite colors! I can't wait to see what my locks will look like with my whole entire haired curled. Well just believe that I will be back to post the results as soon as I give it a try!

My Hair Care Washing Routine & Braidout/Flat Twist Hair Style

Hello everyone I figured since I haven't shared with you how I care for my hair yet that this was a good time to do it! I was preparing myself to go to the Scream Tour 5 concert and I was trying to figure out what to do to my hair. So I decided that I would do a braidout. I usually wash my hair on the weekends but I figured if I wanted good results that it was better that I wash my hair and leave it braided while it was wet.

This is a picure of what I use to get ready to wash my hair and what I use on my hair after I wash it. Although I have been locked for 6 months now I still have to braid and band. I know at times I think that it is tidious work but it is oh so important, and plus not all of my ends are sealed, so I have to do what I have to do!
I decided to take some advice from two locked sisters! I got the spray bottle idea from the young woman on you tube. I'm sorry I don't know her name but I thank her for sharing the videos they were very helpful! I also got the soft scrunchie's idea from Mali's Blog The soft scrunchi's work better than the rubberbands, I have no fear of pulling my hair out when I use those soft scrunchie's.( Hey if anyone remebers the young lady's name on you tube. I would really appreciate it if you can share it with me, so I can give her the proper credit!)
Anyhow when I braid my hair I try not to braid the roots so tight so I can wash and scrub(gently) as much as the scalp as possible. I usually have more and smaller braids but I was in a rush and also lazy so I made them a little bigger!

I also use those clips for my shorter lcoks at the hair line because they won't fit into a braid and to prevent them from coming a loose while I wash, the clips really help hold them down. I have a problem with dandruff and dry scalp so my consultant recommended that I use this prodcut called Top Brass its anti-dandruff hairgroom cream, this has really helped my scalp when I first started using it I was using it everyday until my dandruff got under control, now I use it 2-3 timed out the week. Next I have is the Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Temple Balm I use this product once a day in hope of stimulating growth in my hairline and my weak and thin hair spots, I haven't seen any changes but I hope to see some soon. Let me add a very important note that it is very important to comb through and seperate each lock after you wash so you wont have lcoks joining together!


The end result now everyone knows that once they wash their hair and its dries that it shrinks up. I really don't care for shrinkage, but its something that I will have to deal with for now. I didn't like the end result of my braid out because of the shrinkage and plus it wasn't enough for me so I decided to try and flat twist my hair! This was originally suppose to be an experiment because it was my first time twisting my hair but I think for me doing this for the first time that it came out nice. So I have a few pics of my twist/braidout. I also decided to put butterfly clips on the twist to add a lil something extra! I do believe that I will defitnetly try this hairstyle again
