Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

Newest Sisterlocks Install

Well Well Well

I finally had time to blog. Recently I've been real busy, actually I still am but I noticed I haven't updated in about a month. I wanted to blog about my hair with my latest retightening. However there is really nothing to update. I think my hair is growing which is awesome, but other than that nothing new maybe one day I will stop being lazy and style. Anyhow I wanted to share with you all what I've been up to.

I've been busy with my Sisterlocks Business, and I'm very honored and grateful for my clients.
My most recent install was an interesting one. She was my first client to have 11 inches of hair.... did you hear me yes I said 11 inches not to mention her hair was very thick. It ONLY took me a short 37 hrs, lol. Had no idea installs could take that long. My client was a trooper and very patient. Thank-God

After looking at her hair photos and seeing her happiness made it all worth it. I would do it all over again.

Looking forward to see how her locks transform. I will keep you all posted.

New Sisterlocks: Installation Date Set!

Throwback Pic: My New Locks in June 2006

Well...Folks,

I finally gave in... got a consultation and scheduled a day for my Sisterlocks to be re-installed. I CAN NOT WAIT! I'm so excited.

My initial plan was to wait until my thinning/balding spots grew in long enough to lock. However it is taking too long and I don't have the patience anymore. I really didn't want to go the route of using a hair piece for those thin areas but as of now that's MY only option.  Sure I can do without the hairpiece but for new Sisterlocks their will be too much scalp showing and I'm not sure if I can deal with that.

After giving it some thought and realizing that I have to use a hairpiece anyway... I probably should have kept my Sisterlocks in the first place. However I'm not going to let that get me down, it is only hair. It will grow back and has,  it's just taking it's sweet ole time. I often forget how many imperfections that I had with my locks after looking back at the photos I don't regret starting over.

I'm glad I got to know my loose natural hair for the first time because, I have learned a lot about my hair. I have  two-three different hair types. Which is crazy I thought I only had one.... which was NAPPY, lol. I learned what products worked best for me. I've also realized that I really DON'T care to comb my hair.

I really wanted to get this party started because my hair started breaking off on the ends. (Because I wasn't combing it). So I cut and 1/2 to 1 inches of hair off all around in hopes of stopping the breakage. Well that only solved my problem temporarily because the breakage started again. I was tired of it... I would rather have my hair break off in a lock which actually goes no where... but makes your locks grow longer. Then for my hair to fall off in a comb or floor!

Anyhow enough chit chat... I have died my hair an interesting color... tried to rectify it buy coloring it again but made it even more interesting and I'm going to leave it alone, don't think my hair can take much more chemicals. As of now majority of my hair is 3 1/2 to 4 inches.. and the bald/thin areas are at least 1/2 inch to an 1 inch.

My Mother Has Sisterlocks

I honestly thought this day would never come.....

(Pic of me and my mom many years ago)

My mother gave me the opportunity to install her Sisterlocks. What a great pleasure.

My mother has struggled with going natural on and off for years. She was undecided and ALWAYS worried what other people would think of her hair. She works in a corporate setting so she still worries but not as much.

Back in May of 2010 she decided she had enough of perms and decided to go natrual. I was so happy that she finally decided to go natural but I was happier that she decided to get Sisterlocks :)

She still has some ways to go about embracing her natural hair to the fullest but at least she took the first step.

Here are a few pictures of her install. It took over 2 days due to several circumstances and interruptions but hey I got the job done :)

Her last perm was in May 2010 had about 4-5 inches of new growth. She started with some permed ends, I was almost able to get rid of most of them, but she was afraid to let the length go in the front, lol. Maybe next time. I think her locks came out really nice. I know that she will enjoy this new found freedom.

SN: Now I need to work on my sister, she went natural about a year ago as well but she doesn't want
 locks :(

I'm still working on her though..lol.

Well enjoy the photos,  hope all is well with you all.

Until next time much love!

4th Installation... How Did I Pass this By?

This is my fourth install. Her locks were started back in July.

This client has different textures throughout her hair and started with permed ends.

Those permed ends have since been cut off. Which I think turned out great, she was planning to leave her permed ends alone but couldn't stand them for too long and chopped them off. I think she looks great her hair curls naturally and I just love the outcome. When I get updated pictures of how her locks look now I will post them.

Second Install

Another young lady blessed me with the opportunity to do her Sisterlocks. I'm truly honored. This is my second install. She started with one & a half inches of new growth and permed ends. We are both happy with the results. Enjoy the photos.

First Installation

I'm proud to complete my first set of Sisterlocks. I scheduled the install over 3 days, thank God because we needed it. It took 24 hours and some change to complete. This client had 5-7 inches of hair all over. She wanted larger Sisterlocks. She is extremely happy with the results.

I'm happy with the outcome for my first install, however there is always room for improvement. I have another consultation coming up, we shall see if this will make client #2. Wish me luck.
