Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

My Sisterlocks Wish List

( This is what you do when you are sord of bored...) You think up a whole list of stuff that you may not need but really want, to make you happy.

1. Brunsli Hair Ties

2. Some More Tomoka's Twists (Have some on the way!)

3. Jumbo Soft Spikes (In Purple of course). I already have the regular ones but I think I will like the jumbo size better.

4. Some More Brunsli Hair Ties

5. Medium Nappy Lock Tool ( I currently have a small and majority of my locks have swelled up which is a good thing!)
* That is also on the way!

6. 2008 Sisterlocks Calendar

7. Wrap-A-Loc (I so adore those curls!)
* I tried the pipe cleaners not feeling them, and plus I can't find any in black or brown.

8. The Purple People Heater I've been searching for a hair dryer for a minute now and being able to find one in purple with the help of Renea and Brunsli has ended my search.Yes I would buy this hair dryer because it is purple( yes I already know I'm crazy lol). Now if only I can talk my DH in buying this lovely gift for me,lol. I'm working on it though and I have to say I'm wearing him down! He will give in eventually. Asking him for the new Verizon Voyager isn't helping either but I know I will get my way! Hey it's his fault for spoiling me, lol. Isn't that what Husbands are for? Anyhow on to # 9, yes there is more!

9. Aquis Microfiber Turban . You guessed it. I want it in Purple! It took me long and hard to find one in purple majority of the sites didn't sell them anymore but I found one that did only to find out there on back order but that's okay I'll wait!

10. Good Hair Conditioner. I only condition my hair once a year until they completely lock and I'm looking for a good one before June. If any of you have any recommendations please let me know.

11. Did I mention Brunsli Hair Ties ? Lol

I think that is about it. I hope I haven't forgotten anything! I'm sure I have more. After reading this post I have realized that I have a very long list, and that I am in love with the color purple. Oh well I guess I better go do something constructive. Until next time much love!

My Time At Sublime ( Not Hair Related)

Ok so me and my DH had a chance to get away from the kids for a few hours. We took that opportunity to go out to eat. Recently we have changed our diet to a vegetarian lifestyle so we knew it might be difficult to go to a regular restaurant so we decided to go and give a restaurant called Sublime a try. They are 100% Vegan and all their products are natural and organic. Meikmeika suggested this restaurant to me a while ago. Why didn't I go sooner? Me and DH really had a good time and we enjoyed our food it was wonderful. If I had to rate Sublime out of 5Stars it would get a 5!.

My thoughts on the food
My food was delicious and so was my DH's (lol, you know I had to try his food as well). I never knew vegan food can taste so good. We had Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer it was good, my first time trying that dish. For the entree I had Pad Thai and my DH had Portabello "Tenderloin" along with onion rings, mashed potatoes and spinach. For dessert we had a Peanut Butter Swirl Brownie. (That brownie was so delicious I ended up eating the whole thing! It was so warm and moist(that doesn't sound right but I'm still talking about the brownie! lol). Me and my DH was very pleased with the food and the presentation was awesome!

My thoughts on Environment
The environment was great, it had a very modern feel. The scenery was nice, they had cascading waterfalls and the seating was spectacular and comfortable. The lighting was great it was dim, they had nice candles on every table.

My thoughts on Pricing
Well I have to admit the pricing was a little steep but it was well worth it! Plus all the proceeds(100%) goes to charity. Isn't that great?!

My thoughts on Customer Service
The customer service was outstanding! Our waitress was very helpful and informative. She took the time out to explain to us about specials, how dishes where set up and what she recommended. To top it off we even had a chance to meet the owner! She went to every table and spoke with everyone! I was amazed because you don't see that often, in fact I've never seen it. ( To Meikmeika did she do that while you where there?)

Anyhow we had a very good time. I will be going to that restaurant more often.
I am so glad that I decided to change my lifestyle to a vegetarian lifestyle. Its one of the best decisions that I have made I am starting to feel the affects of it. I have alot more energy and I feel good about my health and what I'm eating. Going to this restaurant has led to me to search for others and to start cooking new dishes. I will try out one or two new recipes a week and when I do I'll be sure to pot pics for you Meikmeika. However I must warn you they might not come out as good. Anyhow I just wanted to share my experience hey if you are ever in the Ft. Lauderdale area you should give Sublime a try even if you are not a vegetarian you will enjoy the food just as much! Until next time much love.

Sorry I didn't think to take pics of the food or the restaurant at that time.

I Will Survive

Mother-hood has brought on a whole new meaning once you go from having one child to two! It is not easy, and I didn't expect it to be but I didn't think it would be this hard. Anyhow I will continue to hope and pray that things get better until I get it together and get things under control. You know to be honest you would think my newborn would be the one causing the most trouble but it's not her it's my son J! Can you believe it? I can't either. I guess his acting out lately is him wanting attention since he is not getting as much as he used to. He has relapsed in potty training so now I'm changing pampers on two people. Another thing is he hasn't started speaking English yet, Lol. I mean he is still speaking his own language. Don't get me wrong he understands English and knows how to repeat words, however he still hasn't started talking to me yet. Let me take that back he knows how to talk, he just doesn't know when to let me know when he wants something or when something is going on. I know that all children progress differently, maybe it's just me maybe I am expecting too much.I will say this he has progressed in other areas that I have noticed other children his age have not. To make matters worse he is experiencing his terrible two's. However I can't get mad at him because no matter what he does in the end he makes me smile.

(Ms. Justice doing what she does best! Crying.)

Now dealing with Ms. Justice she is a whole new breed. Sometimes I feel as if she's been here before. Anyhow she likes to sleep all day and party at night! Well I guess I can say she gets that from me, lol. I am not a morning person(never have been and never will be) and when I was working I worked the night shift 7p-7a for about 5 years. So lets just say my body has adapted to that schedule. Speaking of work I miss it but I will speak about that in another post, I have now realized that I never shared with you all what I do for a living. Anyhow back to the post. People say to sleep when the baby sleeps, however that is impossible when you have another child to look after. I can already tell Ms. Justice is going to be mean and bossy like me, and eventually be bossing her big brother around. Her and J are totally opposite and I'm curious to how Justice and J are going to react to each other when they get older. Anyhow I hope for the best. Inspite of how I am feeling right now I do and will always love my kids and know that they are a true blessing from God.
The main reason for this post was to get my feelings out on how I've been feeling about being a mother of two. I don't see how other mothers do it but I hope I will learn someday soon! How do you spread all your love equally with out no one feeling left out? How do you take care of your children without one of them getting short changed? To all my experienced mothers out there please respond if you have any pointers or suggestions.

Hair Updates: I guess my hair has slowed down on growing for now. I usually retighten my hair every 4 weeks. However at this point retightening my hair isn't probably necessary until another two-three weeks. I 'm still trying to decide should I go ahead anyway or wait. Now If I didn't have a newborn I would wait but since I do I might be better off retightening now since it won't take as long. I don't know I'll figure it out sooner or later. During this point in time don't have much time to do anything with my hair. I don't know what I would do if my hair was permed ( actually don't want to know). I am so glad I have Sisterlocks they are very convenient. Anyways I must go one of my little ones is starting to wake up! Until next time much love.

Snoop's Sensual Seduction

Hey I just wanted to post this crazy yet fun video. I usually don't post videos, well I haven't since the beginning of my blog. Anyhow sometimes you get tired of talking about your hair all the time. Well maybe not, but this was too funny to let go. I can honestly say I like the throwback video and I think the beat is hot. As for the words I haven't paid them any attention but I will see if it makes any sense. Until next time much love.

Introducing The Newest Member To My Family....Mini Me

Ms. Justice Larissa F. Finally made it into the world on Nov. 1st. Weighing 6 pounds 15 oz and 19and a half inches long . Let me tell you it wasn't easy. During this pregnancy everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Did I mention that my epidural didn't work? However I am blessed that she came out as healthy as can be. The only things that I can complain about is being sleep deprived but I am getting used to it now. This pregnancy lasted forever I didn't think the day would ever come when I got to meet my new bundle of joy. The pic below is of me blogging while in the hospital. Please excuse how I look I didn't have time to get myself together.

I am so happy and blessed! I am a proud mother of two wonderful children. My son wasn't too fond of his little sister at the beginning and I still think he is a little jealous. However he is improving and he is always wanting to help out. I notice a big difference in my children already. My son is always peaceful and happy he wakes up every morning with a smile on his face and always ask how you doing?( in those words). Even when he was little he was peaceful and anything calmed him down from crying. However my daughter is complete opposite she is always cranky and she is very greedy and I notice that she frowns a lot. For some reason I believe she gets that from me I'm not proud about being cranky but that is just who I am anyways although its still early I think she looks like me just a red version, lol.

Oh and for those who are inquiring why my children are red and I know that some of you all are because me and husband get questioned all the time and someone even had the nerve to tell me that my son wasn't mine and that he was adopted. Don't worry I didn't take it personal. I just want you all to see the reason why. The first picture is my grandfather in law. The second is my mother in law along with my grandfather in law. Lets just say that that the red skin jeans skip a generation, twice!

Hair Updates: My hair is still the same no changes just getting longer and I think the ones that I was having trouble with locking are actually starting to lock now. I was smart enough to retighten my hair right before the baby came. So I wouldn't have to worry about it for a while. I haven't had anytime to style my hair lately although I really want to. I think the best bet for me right now is to style my hair on some rollers because curls last longer. I'm thinking about buying a under the hair dryer ( Hard Hat Dryer). I really want one and I know it would help out with making the curls last even longer. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm coming up on my year and a half mark on Dec 1st. Hopefully the next time I blog it will be about hair and I will have updated pics. Maybe I will experiment with my Soft Spikes again. Anyways I hope you all enjoyed the pics. Until next time much love!

Patiently Waiting.....

To meet my little girl that is. It seems like I've been pregnant forever. However I am happy to say that the day has finally come! Yes that's right I am blogging from my hospital bed and I'm having contractions as I type this. I was induced and I had a little time on my hands. I know you all may think I'm crazy but the pain is not bad yet. Also I miss my fellow bloggers and who knows when I will have time to blog again. Anyhow as of now everything is fine and I hope that everything will turn out okay. I just wanted to post a quick note to let all who read my blog know what was going on.

Hair Updates
There hasn't been any significant changes. I did decided to combine some locks by twisting two together and then latching them together at the root. However to try to keep them from coming loose I used some lock gel and it did help keep them together. I also did an experiment to see how my locks would hold up. I decided to wash majority of my hair while it was loose. I kept the entire back and middle loose and just braided and banded the front(that is the only place where I have a lot of loose ends). Everything turned out fine there wasn't any slippage and my hair and scalp felt wonderful afterwards.
I did another diy retightening session and it turned out great. I didn't time myself this time but I know it went by a lot quicker than the first. I was happy with the results and I have started 5 more baby locks in the front which means that my hairline is finally growing due to past damage and getting stronger.

Vegetarian Update
I'm still a vegetarian. Everything in that area is going well. I haven't tried a lot of new dishes yet due to laziness but I will some time in the near future. The only thing is that I get a lot of questions mostly by family members. They are always asking me "why" like being a vegetarian is such a bad thing and I'm wondering to myself why not. Anyhow I guess that's all I have for now. Sorry I don't have any pictures. I hope to talk to you all soon. I hope everyone and their locks(lol) are doing fine. Until next time much love!

Combining Locks?

Well I've been thinking for some time to combine some of my locks. Mostly the ones in the front because, I have a few that are really really small, thin, weak and have not locked and the ends are still open(loose). I figured that if I would combine some of them that will give them something to work with by speeding up the locking process. I'm not sure if my theory will work but it is worth a try. At first I really wasn't sure how to combine locks. However after reading a couple of blogs especially Cheleskilove's Blog I learned a lot. I also learned that there is a couple of ways, of combining locks. Now I'm trying to decide if I go through with combining some of my locks which method is the best method for me. Now I know I maybe asking for to much but I would like to combine my locks without messing up the parts too much. Is that possible? Probably not!

Anyhow I was thinking of going the lazy route by just combining two locks together by twisting them and then latch them together at the routes. However I am not so sure because I don't want it to look like I have twists in some parts of my hair. If anyone has ever tried this method does the appearance of the twists ever go away? Please inform me.

Another method I have heard about was just latching two locks together at the base and leave the ends alone. However I don't think I want two headed dragons in my hair either. I know eventually some people cut off the weaker locks. However being that my locks are kind of long now that will be defeating the purpose of trying to strengthen them and thicken them, and then I will have a lot more locks that are uneven.

Another method which is probably the best but the most tedious is actually sewing the locks together. I think this will create the look that I am looking for. I don't know if I want to go through with all that work. However this is my hair and if it is something that I want then I guess I have to make a sacrifice. I have one question though, do you leave the thread in the locks or do you eventually take the thread out? How long? Please educate me.

Now recently I have been feeling a little different about my locks. I was thinking about cutting them off and starting them over. Due to the fact that the ones in the front are taking their sweet little time to lock. However my husband talked some sense into me and I decided to wait a little longer and thought that combining some of those locks might be a better alternative.

I was trying to wait until the end of the year to decide what to do but it doesn't make any sense to wait so if I'm going to do anything I need to go ahead and do it soon! Now if I have missed some information about combining locks please be sure to let me know and if you have any suggestions don't be afraid to share. Until next time much love.

You be the judge, what do you think?

For some time now I've been debating if I should start retightening my hair. You all know that I was having consultant problems and I really didn't want to start all over. Another issue I had was that the retightening class won't be offered down here until next year sometime. That is a long time from now and I decided that I didn't want to wait. So I said to myself that I would give myself a chance and if then I didn't succeed, then I would proceed to finding another consultant.

Well it took me along time to get to this point because I've been wanting to do my own hair for the longest now. However I guess I wasn't ready back then and plus I was too intimidated. I was too afraid that I would mess up. However after I looked back at all the things that I've been through and let happen I decided to put and end to it and decided it was time. Another thing which kind of held me back was that I really wanted to take the retightening class. I felt that if I didn't take the retightening class that I would be breaking some kind of Sisterhood but now I've come to realize that sometimes you have to do what's best for you and retightening my own hair is whats best for me and I'm glad that I could get over that bad feeling.

I've realized that being able to do your own hair leaves you with a special feeling. I feel like I am finally in charge and there is no more secrets. ( A while back I asked my consultant what my pattern was and she hesitated before answering. Why is knowing your pattern a big secret? At first I was scared to ask her because I knew what the outcome would be, but I'm glad that she did let me know.)
Like I was saying it feels good to finally be in control of my own hair the feeling is so indescribable! I want to give a shot out to all the ladies of the LHBE who stopped by and left me words of encouragement to go ahead and give it a try. Thanks again I really appreciate the love.

The Process

I have close to 400 micro/small Sisterlocks. I chose to use the Nappy Lock Tool ( size small). It is very simple to use. Now being that this was my first time it took some time. The first section I did was the back and it took me about 4 1/2 hours. After that I stopped counting but I'm sure if I was to estimate it took me a total of 16 hours. That is a long time if you do it all at once but I did spread it out over three days while watching movies. I hope to get better, like they say practice makes perfect. Now during this time there was a few things that I learned.

Things that I learned:

I learned that doing it yourself, you have this special bond with your locks and learn so much about your hair. I am even thinking about combining some of my locks mostly the ones in the front some of them are weak and may need a little help. However I am going to wait it out and hope that they will strenghten at the root and grow out. I don't want to mess up the parts and plus I think it may be a little too late for combining. If anyone has any tips on combining locks please share.

I learned to make sure you pull the lock all the way through once you finish the rotation so you don't form a bump.

I learned not to force a full rotation if it can't be done, this causes the lock to draw up and is also probably the cause of headaches.

I learned to take your time especially if you are a beginner. I married two set of locks by accident but I was able to un marry them.

I learned that there is a reason why your consultant says to separate your locks after shampooing.( Please do, it will help out in the long run) If you don't chances are you locks will start growing with other locks. Which causes problems during retightening sessions.

I also learned that if you want your retightening to remain looking fresh to wash your hair before not after.( However if you don't like all the spaces then washing your hair may be the thing for you). I usually wash my hair before I get my hair retightened but I didn't think it was necessary at the time. However when I really started investigating my hair while I was retightening it was definitely in need of a good washing.
My dandruff started to appear again. I had stopped using Nizoral because I didn't want any problems to prevent the rest of my hair from locking. However I needed more than Nizoral. I treated myself with ACV and Nizoral, I also used Sisterlocks Shampoo but I had to use my Avalon Organics Lemon Clarifying Shampoo to get rid of the smell. Anyways I know I said that I was going to stay away from other products for now but I had to reward myself for what I just accomplished. I was going to style my hair as well but then I got lazy, I did say I was going to chill out with the styling too so at least I didn't go back on my word on that part of the deal. I'm trying to hold out until my 1 year and a half mark or New Year's do you think I will last?

Anyhow being that I am still an amateur I plan to do my retightenings every 4 weeks so it won't take as long. When I get retightening my locks under control I plan to prolong it to every 6-8 weeks.

The Outcome

My hair came out decent except for those few mistakes that I mentioned earlier. I didn't see any wholes. My hair actually looked like it was retightened by a professional. It also felt like it was done by a professional. I'm glad to have overcome my fear of doing it myself and I look forward to many more retightening sessions.

This goes out to all those others who are considering doing it yourself. I say go for it because it can be done, however patience is necessary. There is a special feeling about doing it yourself and I love that feeling and I want to continue to have that feeling. Anyhow I have written more than enough as usual. So until next time much love.

P.S You know I couldn't leave you all without any pictures. Anyhow just a many slide show I created.

**New Memo** I have updated my fotki again (Months 12-15) and there are several pictures that I have posted there that I didn't post in my blog so you all can have a look if you like. You can get to my fotki from > Here or you can get to my fotki from my links that are listed to the right side of my blog. Hope you enjoy until next time much love!

I just wanted to check in to let you all know what was going on with my previous situation. I have decided to take matters in my own hands and I have completed a full session of retightening my own hair and I am proud of myself. I recently got a new computer so I 'm trying to get all my pictures together. I will be back soon to give you a detailed post and plenty of pictures. Until next time much love.

Brunsli's Hair Ties

Now it's been a while since I sported a B-Hair Tie. When I first got my Sisterlocks and being the product junkie that I USED to be ( I've slowed down tremendously). I purchased close to 10 B-Hair Ties . I have lost count but I know I'm sure to have close to 15 now. I was trying to buy everything out there for my hair not knowing any better at the time, that it was important to just let my hair do what it's suppose to do on it's own. Anyhow back to the story when I first got my Sisterlocks I purchased several of Brunsli's Hair Ties. At that time I couldn't wear them the way I wanted which was up in a pony tail or pineapple. I had even got creative shown in this post. I remember Goodnapps and Brunsli mentioned that I could wear them as headbands instead. I was relieved so I did that for a while. However I eventually stopped wearing my B-Hair Ties not because I wanted to, but because I let them get tangled up. *Note to ladies out there who have several hair ties please keep them in their separate bags or use a tie rack ( which I have yet to buy). It will keep things a lot easier.

Since I have noticed that my hair has grown I decided to start wearing my B-Hair Ties again. I only managed to get a few loose. I'm still working on the rest. ( That's hard work trying to untangle all of those hair ties, lol) Here in this pic I'm wearing one of my favorites. I forgot the name sorry. However it is lovely and I love the way my hair fits up into a hair tie now so I will be posting more pics as I continually try to untangle my other hair ties. I must go out and get a tie rack ASAP before I have to go through this again. The only thing that has stopped me from buying more hair ties at the moment is because I said I wouldn't purchase anymore until I get the others untangled ( it's been a while). When I do finally master that task watch out Brunsli because I have been keeping my eye out on e-bay! (lol) Anyhow just thought I share. If you haven't purchased a Brunsli Hair Tie yet what are you waiting for they really come in handy! Until next time much love.

Miami Northwestern Takes It Home! Go Bulls!!!

Well let me first tell you that this post has nothing to do with hair. I just wanted to share that my High School Alma Mater is # 1 in the United States. Miami Northwestern was listed #2 and played South Carroll #1 yesterday evening in Dallas. Until this big game I had no idea that we were even # 2 in the country. I was a proud student of Miami Northwestern( I won't mention how long ago that was, lol ). I was also in the Marching Band as well as other bands but Marching Band got all of the attention because we were present at all the football games in which I had no choice but to watch the games as well. I'm not sure how Marching Band is acccepted in other states but in Florida and other Southern States we take Marching Band very seriously. Anyhow I just wanted to share that info. To all my fellow Sisterlocked Sisters in Dallas I'm sorry that Miami had to come up and show out! I hope that South Carroll took notes! You know I couldn't go without a little trash talking right? Just kidding. Until next time much love.

Contemplating.... If you were me, what would you do?

Lately I've been seriously thinking should I take retightening my locks into my own hands. More and more I want to take that big step but then again I'm not so sure. Sometimes when I take a look at all the Sisterlocks that I have it is very discouraging and intimidating. Before I go on I want to share with you what I've been through so you can have an understanding of where I'm coming from. At first I didn't want to share this information but why not maybe someone else can learn from my mistakes. I must warn you this is a long post but a good one. However I really need your feedback and opinions. So please continue on.

Incident #1
Although this didn't affect me I should have known better from the very beginning. My husband was set to get his locks started by my consultant before I got my Sisterlocks. Everything was fine, she even called the day before to confirm the appointment just to cancel the next day! But that's not it she didn't even attempt to call us to let us know. We had to call because we misplaced her address. Her excuse was she had suddenly came up with the flu. Which was fine but she could've at least given us a call to let us know. I wonder what would've happen if we had shown up with out calling first. However now that I look back I really don't believe that is why she cancelled. My husband never got his locks and I said to myself that she didn't try me so I'll give her another chance.

Incident #2
With my consultant she likes to schedule her appointments way in advance at least two or three retightenings in advance. Which has it pros's and con's. The pros's are you already have a set day and can schedule off of work in advance. Or clear your schedule for other things. The con's are if your consultant cancels your schedule your pretty much stuck because she has several other clients that have filled up the schedule around that time. This is what happened to me one of my appointments were cancelled why I do not know the true reason but I have a good idea. Anyhow I was upset when my appointment was cancelled as I was looking forward to my retightening. I know you are thinking what's the big deal things happen but wait until you hear the rest of the story. So she said that she will call me when she could to get me another appointment. One week went by I haven't heard from her so I decided to call her again and ask her whats up did she have any spots. Still had no spots and said that she would let me know if anything came up. About another week went by and I finally got a call there was a spot available! Finally I said to myself. For some reason I knew something fishy was going on. I knew that she had to cancel someone else's appointment to fit me in. (Why did she do that I don't know because she would have to keep doing the same thing over and over again! Hey that's not my problem right?) So I decided to call my associate who put me up on Sisterlocks( who also sees the same consultant) you would never believe what I found out. Turns out she had her appointment cancelled ( I took her appointment! What are the odds of that happening?) Anyhow it gets better the consultant told her that she had to cancel her appointment due to the fact that she had to go to a hair workshop/conference out of town! (That was a good one!) I couldn't believe my ears. However I said nothing to my associate because I knew the truth and I really wanted my hair done. I know I was wrong and selfish however it is done and over with and plus my associate no longer has her Sisterlocks I wonder why. I really need to find out. Anyhow I know your thinking I should have changed consultants then. I did try during that two week period that I was waiting for her to call me back. I called around some of them weren't taking any new clients and one that I did speak to wanted to know to much information, who, what and why. All the consultants in the area pretty much know each other so I know you know what happened next. Yep you guessed it the new consultant called my consultant and let her know what was going on. Which is why I think an opening for my hair to finally get done suddenly opened up. Anyhow you would think at that point I would have changed consultants then but I didn't. I still thought she was a nice person even though she wasn't professional plus she literally stayed right around the corner form me less than 5 minutes away. So I decided to give her another chance.

Incident #3
Yes there is an incident number 3. It's one too many right? Anyhow me not being happy with my locks recently especially the loose ends. When I first noticed them I didn't know you could do anything about them so I never said anything. However when I did find out that you could something about them I was happy and relieved. However when I mentioned it to my consultant she tried to place the blame on a shampoo I had just started using, now it could have played a part however I know that I had the loose ends way before I started using the shampoo. I just blew it off and then I asked her could we do anything about it and she said that we would have to set a time for her to do it so I said fine. I also found some locks that were combined without my knowledge. ( Could things get any worse?) I found two of them for now. Why is it so hard for a consultant to let you know what is going on with your hair. I guess I have to be a little more inquisitive.

Incident # 4
I know its getting old, however it seems like it never ends I am surprised that I held my peace for so long. Anyhow I think this put the icing on the cake! I went in for a retightening. I mentioned the loosed ends again hoping that she would work on them. guess what she said she has been working on them. I'm saying to myself you couldn't have I just mentioned them last week AFTER you finished my hair and here we are are the beginning of my session. Sometimes I wonder what is going on inside my consultant's head. Anyway when I got there apparently something personal was going on which led to my consultant stopping in the middle of our session asking that she be relieved because she had to take care of something. I could not believe what was going on. I thought to myself is she really going to leave me with half my head done? I was hoping that she wouldn't go through with it but she did. The good thing was that she didn't charge me however there was a catch to that mentioned in incident #5.

Incident #5
Follow up of Incident # 4. So here I was walking around with half a head retightened. ( Not a good look! ) I'm patiently waiting for my consultant to call me to schedule an appointment. A week goes by I said enough is enough so I called her and of course there where no openings. However about an hour later one mysteriously opened up and I took it. Now being that I already had half of my head done you would think it wouldn't take as long, yeah right. I hate to say it but I think she intentionally took a long time retightening my hair so she could make up for last time. Which I think she has done more than once.

I know you are asking me is she still your consultant? Yes she is in fact I have an appointment with her next week. Which I think is too soon. I tried to schedule my appointment much later but she wouldn't listen and I basically let her get away with it. I think I'm at at a point where my retightenings can be done every 6-8 weeks. I think every 4-5 weeks is too soon. Why can't I decide when I want my own hair done? Isn't it up to me to decided when I want my hair done no matter what the consequences?

Anyhow I know your thinking I should have dropped her a long time ago. Now that I look at what all I wrote and what all I have been through. I really need to either go ahead and change consultants or do my retightenings myself. I don't want to change consultants due to the fact of what happened before. I want to retighten my hair myself but I really would like to take the retightening class. However that's where one of my problems come in. There are no retightening classes scheduled for the remainder of the year. Which means I would have to wait until next year. (That is a very long time!) Another thing that is bothering me is that I feel that if I don't take the retightening class that I'll be breaking some type of bond or sisterhood. I know it sounds silly but that is how I feel. I even tried looking up consultants that offer the retightening class on the side but of coarse they only offer the class to their own clients.

I really don't know what to do. I guess the only thing I can do is try. I already own a latch hook and the nappy locks tool . I purchased a long time ago, I probably purchased it when my consultant disappointed me. Anyhow I have no idea how to use the latch hook it looks so complicated all I can do is just look at it hoping that it would come to me but that doesn't work, lol. Anyhow the nappy locks tool is easy I attempted to retighten one lock in the past and it came out fine. I just wonder if there is a way to keep the lock in the whole without it slipping out? ( Tips are welcomed) I do know my pattern. Which was kind of hard to come by why is knowing the pattern of your hair such a big secret?

After reading Naturally Sophia's Blog and comments made on that particular post. I have really decided that I should go ahead and give it a try. Whats the worse that could happen? ( Don't answer that, lol) I already know that I'm not going to be a pro ( at first anyway) and that it will take time to master the technique. This is something that I really want to achieve so I can't give up, not so soon anyway! Just say a prayer for me, lol. There is something about doing your hair yourself. It's a special feeling a sense of pride. Although you may make a mistake its your mistake and you don't have to blame anybody but yourself which is fine. At this point I'm just tired of being dependent on someone else to do my hair.

Do you think I was wrong for voicing my problems and concerns?

Now that you know the whole story behind me wanting to learn how to do my hair on my own what do you think and what would you do? Please all comments and tips are welcomed. Well I know that I have written more than enough I must go. Until next time much love!

Looking at the Bright Side

Well despite my latest feelings about my Sisterlocks, things are starting to turn around. I just want to thank all the ladies who stopped by my blog and left comments on my previous post. I really appreciated the advice, support and words of encouragement. I feel better now. I decided to write a post about what I did like about my Sisterlocks. I just recently got my hair retightened and even though the spaces returned, I love getting my hair retightened and I just love the way my locks feel. It's like they have been rejuvenated! While I was going through my phase I was looking at some pictures when I first got my Sistelocks and looking at those pictures help me to realize that I have come along way, a very long way. So I do know that things will eventually get better.

The thing that I love most about my Sisterlocks is the freedom. How I don't have to stress out about my hair. I have really gotten used to the fact that I can just get up and go. Having Sisterlocks are very convenient being that I'm a very busy person and mom and about to become even busier! I'm really thankful that I have one less thing to worry about. Lately I have been examining my locks and I have noticed that my locks are thickening at the roots which is a very good thing it gives me hope. I hope this means that my locks are getting stronger and hopefully I won't have a problem with thinning locks in the future. I have finally accepted the fact that it's going to take a longer time than I planned for my hair to fully lock. The only thing I can do is sit back and wait. I'm still holding off on the unnecessary products and styling although it is really hard but I'm coping pretty well. For most of the time I have been keeping my hair braided. I sometimes braid my hair in one or two french braids at night and in the morning if I have to go out I take them loose and it produces this really great braid out.( sorry I have no pictures maybe next time!) Back when I first got my Sisterlocks I wasn't too fond of braid outs but as my hair continues to grow I'm starting to like braid outs now.

Speaking of growth I noticed my locks have really been growing. That's another thing I like about my Sisterlocks that is has really made my hair grow and thicken up. I decided to test my growth and put it in a pony tail. I was successful, I have been able to put my hair in a pony tail before but this time I didn't have to force it! lol, Which is a good feeling. I admit I still have a little ways to go but I think I can safely say that this is a true pony tail. Now back in my permie days I was never able to do this my hair was always to thin and short from breakage. My hair is defitnetly in better shape. Well I'm over my little phase now and I have learned to be a little more patient because I know good things come to those who wait! Well until next time much love!

Mixed Feelings

I never thought this day would come but right about now I'm having mixed feelings about my Sisterlocks. Some days I love them some days I don't. I know that at one point in time everyone goes through this phase sometimes even more than once, most of the time people get over it! Hopefully I won't have to go through this again. You ask why am I feeling this way. Well basically I have had my Sisterlocks for about a year and two months now, and I'm starting to have problems with them. As far as them not locking and taking more than forever to do so. I'm also having problems with a couple of my locks thinning in the middle to the point where they are breaking off on the ends. I could understand if it was one or two but it's one too many. Having those locks break off like that are really getting to me. I think I can handle my hair taking forever to lock, better than my locks thinning in the middle and eventually breaking off. What am I doing wrong? I'm always asking myself that. Maybe it's something that I'm doing or not doing that's causing this. However I really can't think of any reason. Or maybe I can. I know that every one's hair is different but I was so sure that my hair would be locked by now. Don't get me wrong I have a few locks that I can positively say that they are fully locked( can count on both hands, which is not enough, it maybe more but no that many) however I have several more locks (way too many) that are no where near locking. Now just about all my locks have a few buds here and there and several of them have the little crinkles on the end which I love at times but I'm really ready for my locks to actually start looking like locks. (Is something wrong with that?) Anyhow I have way to many many locks that are loose on the ends which brings me to my next issue. I usually don't like to put my business out there especially if it's dealing with someone else, I also don't like drama, it's not my style but I can only take so much. I try to keep a good and positive relationship with my consultant because after all how my hair turns out is in someone else's hands. However I'm getting to the point that I really really really want to learn how to do my hair on my own. Don't get me wrong my consultant is very good at what she does. However certain things have happened that I shouldn't have let happened. Me being the quiet and nice person that I am I think sometimes get taken advantaged of. I sometimes think that if I was the ghetto chick that most people think how EVERYONE from Miami acts, it wouldn't have went down like that. However it did and I shouldn't have let it. At first I was going to open up and spill the beans of what went down and what has went down in the past but you know what it's not that serious it has already happened it's just up to me if I continue to let it happen. Lets just say that some of the situations that have happened weren't handled professionally. I've already decided that I will give my consultant one more chance because I really like her as a person (maybe that's my problem) however if I get tried one more time I am going to have to look for another consultant until I can take the retightening class and learn how to maintain my locks myself. A girl can only take so much. The only problem is that I will have to wait until next year before another retightening class is offered, which sucks they usually offer the class down here in Miami twice a year but this year they only offered it once and of course I missed it, due to the fact that I was very sick I had morning sickness times infinity!

Now back to my hair I really have to figure out away to strengthen my locks and somehow get those ends sealed and locked sooner than later. (I long to be able to wash my locks under the shower WITHOUT having to braid and band. I know braiding and banding is important but it's also tedious. I decided to show you a collage of how my locks look at it's present state maybe you can see my problem areas. Anyhow I have been thinking of ways to improve my hair. I've been thinking about taking a hair, nails and vitamin pill(again). I tried in the past to improve my edges but stopped only after a few days because I can't stand taking pills. However if someone out there is taking those pills and has good reviews about them I'm willing to give it a second try. Another thing that I think I may try is to start twisting my loose ends with locking gel. I'm not sure if that will make a difference but I'm at the point that I'm willing to try anything. Another thing I was going to try but I know will be hard for me to do is to do Nothing! That means no styling, no rollers or curlers, and no spritzing with fancy sprays just water if needed. I even thought of keeping my hair braided or plaited at night and at home until I go out in public. The only thing I would be able to do is wash my hair and that's about it. However I plan to go as long as I possibly can between washings. I only plan to use the Sisterlock Shampoo but if my dandruff comes back I will have to use Nizoral again because it actually works and I can't live without it however I will be careful to only apply it to my scalp. Now I know it seems strange and maybe hard to do but I plan on doing this until the end of the year hopefully I will start seeing better results. Now if anyone has any suggestions or comments please share. Hopefully I will get over this soon.

** My Vegetarian update**
I 've been at it strong for two weeks now. I must admit there was this one time I did start craving meat due to the new KFC commercial. However I got over it. I had to tell myself it's only food that I should have control over what I eat and not the other way around. I think this was a very good decision because I notice that I eat more fruits and vegetables than I ever have which was the point of me changing to this way of eating in the first place. My son and husband seem to be doing very well so far. We also started taking daily vitamins. I haven't really been able to tell a difference physically or internally as of yet but I'm sure I will soon. I haven't really been trying that many new dishes because I was too lazy. Plus my last mishapped kind of discouraged me. I tried to cook tofu, in the end it didn't come out right.I had all the steps right up until I took it out of the freezer. I let it thaw out which wasn't necessary ( that was the whole point of putting it in the freezer in the first place). However tonight I plan on cooking something simple which is spaghetti with soy protein. I can't wait to try it. Anyways until next time much love.

Turning Over a New Leaf

Well I decided to make a change in my life. I decided to change my eating habbits to a vegetarian lifestyle. I've been thinking about this change for some time but couldn't decided when it was all going to happen. I'm not really a big meat eater so I knew that this change would be easy. At first I was going to wait until I had the baby and then I thought to myslef why wait. Me being some what anal I had to start at the beginning of something on a specific date. So I decided to start on August first. Now before I just up and decided to make this lifestyle change I did my research first from a couple of books and websites. As I was doing my research I didn't realize how much info there was on a vegetarian lifestyle. I also didn't realize how many types of vegetarians there where. For now I'm adapting to the lacto-ovo-vegetarian lifestyle. Which means that I still eat milk and egg products. However I do plan on converting to vegan in the near future which is a person who doens't eat any animal products. I must also add that I had the help and the inspiration to go ahead and make this change from Meikmeika. She makes it seem so easy. I also love when she shares her food photos on the blog, the food looks really delicious. Anyhow let me not forget about Naturally Sophia and Queenli. Now if there are any more Sisters out there that are vegetarian or vegan please share any advice or ideas or even recipes they are more than welcomed.

The reason I decided to make this change was to better my health. I'm not getting any younger and I would like to be around when my kids have kids. There are some great health beneifts for adapting to this life style so I figured I could use it. So far everything is going okay. I haven't relapsed or anything I don't think that I will. As I have been shopping I realize that they have a lot of things for vegetarians now, supermarkets have come a long way. They are really making things easy for vegetarians. They have a lot of meat substitutes which actually don't taste so bad. I think I will adjust to this lifestyle pretty easily. I just have to figure out what more I can do with tofu other than drinking it in a smoothie. lol ( That was a hint to you Meikmeika, If you have any tips please share because I'm clueless when it come to tofu. While I 'm talking to you have you ever tried rice cheese? They seem to make a decent cheese substitute if you haven't already maybe you should give it a try.) Back to everyone else, My husband has also decided to adapt to this lifestyle with me. Although I know his intentions are good in trying to support me and this change I hope he last because he is good at starting things and sometimes not finishing them but hopefully with the support from easch other we can make this lifestyle change last and make it second nature. I also decided that my son is doing this lifestyle change as well as my daughter on the way. Hopefully they will continue with this lifestyle when they get old enough to make their own decisions. However if they want to change, I'm not going to force them to do something that they don't want to. Anyhow I just wanted to share this story with everyone. I promise on my next post I will talk about hair and share pictures of my hair. Well until next time much love.

Can you guess what the sex of the baby is?

MyHotComments
MyHotComments :: HotFreeLayouts

Tomorrow we will find out what the sex of the baby is. I'm kind of anxious but then again I think that I'm more laid back about the situation this time around. Many of people asked what did I want? Not that it's my choice. I responded as long as it is healthy it doesn't matter. Many people assume that I am having a girl and assume that I want a girl because I have a boy already. I have to admit when I first found out that I was pregnant I had about three dreams that I was having a girl but now I'm not so sure. About 95% of my friends and family say that I'm having a girl and the other 5% says other wise. At first me and my husband were thinking that we are having a girl but as time has gone by both of our minds have changed. We now both agree that we may be having another boy. Well anyways the whole point of this post was to get everyone's opinion. I'm curious to know what you all are thinking so be sure to leave a comment. I will give you all time to respond by letting you all know probably on Friday!

On the hair tip I recently tired to Soft Spike my hair again (3rd time since having SS). Anyhow I followed some of the great advice left on Simply Mel's Blog . Only to not have a great turn out on my behalf of coarse. I decided to roll my hair while it was dry (I did use a little of Foam setting lotion, can't think of the name right now). My curls turned out great however the next day I took out the rollers and that was it. I didn't have time to do anything else. I just let those curls go to waste. Anyhow I am going to try again being that I was so successful last time. I washed my hair earlier today ( I'm going to rolll again while dry.) This time I'm going to use a lttle bit of lotta body setting lotion. I pronmise to style and take pics. Well I'll catch up with you all later! Until next time much love!

Just Checking In

Recently I got my hair retightened and attended a family reunion. It felt like was overdue for my hair to be retightened and I think it had only been 5-6 weeks. However it seemed longer because my hair really had grown since it was last done. Anyhow I finally asked my consultant what my hair pattern was because I was always curious yet scared to ask because it seemed like it was suppose to be top secret! Why are people so touchy on that subject why do some consultants not wish to share that information? Anyhow since I was in the mood of asking questions I finally also asked hair about those loose ends is there something I can do about them and she said that there is that they can be fixed. I would just have to make an appointment with more hours than usual to have them fixed. Now I'm wondering to myself why didn't she suggest this option before when she can clearly see whats going on with my hair better than I can? Anyhow I was so proud of the new product that I started using because I haven't seen the dandruff since then. So I asked my consultant had she seen any dandruff and she said no, however she thought it was due to the Top Brass and I told her that I was using a different shampoo she basically frowned on that idea and then blamed the shampoo for my hair being loose on the ends. However some of my ends where loose for a while now, this happened way before the shampoo I will admit the Nizoral may have made my ends come loose more and then it may have not we will never no. I was kind of disappointed during this retightening session, but because I am a drama free person I decided not to start any. However I'm not sure if I should continue to use what works for me or just let the dandruff take over because I refuse to use that Top Brass anymore. You have to use it too frequently, almost everyday and as soon as you stop using it the dandruff comes right back as if it never left. I like using the Nizoral shampoo because you have to wash your hair anyway and why not nip the problem in the bud then because it's less products you have to use on your hair. Anyhow enough of that.

On another note since readingGoodnapps Blog
on thinning locks it was nothing new to me I had a few here and there. However it did make me more aware and pay closer attention to my hair. Since then I have been finding more thinning locks and I've been pretty upset about it. I've lost the ends on a few already. What is the cause of this? I wish there was something I could do. However I keep reminding myself that it is hair and that it will grown back sooner or later but sometimes that is hard to swallow.

Not to long I recently attended a family reunion. I was pretty excited about going because I didn't attend the last one and plus we were suppose to be having a pool party and a picnic at the beach so I was all hyped up for it. However those plans changed at the last minute so I was disappointed because I love the water. Anyhow to make up for it I ran in to not one, not two, but 5 other Sisterlocked family members. I was in total shock because I just new I was the only Sisterlocked Sister there but I was wrong and yet so happy to see the others. However I don't think they were as excited as me. Being the Sisterlocked stalker that I am I decided to approach them but they were not as welcoming as I assumed them to be, it was not as big of a deal as it was to me. So I just dropped the idea of taking pictures. However I am kind of use to it because here in Miami people are not friendly in fact they are quite rude. So I know better not to confront another locked sister unless she appears to be friendly because I know she would be looking at me like I'm crazy with an attitude. However due to the fact that there were a lot of Sisterlocked Sisters my mom became curious and started asking questions. So I gave her as much information I could give her and gave her all the websites I could think of pertaining to Sistelocks. She seems fairly interested who know maybe we will have another locked sister on her way.I would really be proud. Anyhow I've written more than enough I catch up with you all later! Until next time much love!

"I Like Your Sisterlocks"

Yesterday I was having a good hair day all though when I first woke up my hair was a little dry so I decided to spritz it with Oyin's Greg Juice. It really lifted my hair up. I actually purchased this product a long time ago when my locks weren't ready for it so I have been patiently waiting to use it. Even though it has been a year I still use it sparingly but it does wonders for my hair. You know me I 'm good at sporting a freestyle so I just added a head band and was on my way to Wally World ( aka Wal-Mart). I had to do a little shopping. Out of no where this lady passes by and says "I like your Sisterlocks". I thanked her for the compliment. I was actually in shock because no one has ever said that to me before. I was amazed that a complete stranger knew that I had Sisterlocks. Could it be that my Sisterlocks are actually starting to look like locks? Or could it be that this lady has been researching the style and knows all about them. Anyhow she did start asking questions like who did my hair, how much she charged and how long did it take. We might have another new Sisterlocker soon. Well we can only hope for the best.

PRODUCT REVIEW
I want to give a shot out to my girl Goodnapps and Sunsail for recommending Nizoral anti-dandruff shampoo. At first I didn't think that this product would work for me because I have dandruff pretty bad and not everything works for everybody. However being the product junkie that I am I just had to give it a try and plus I got tired of greasing my scalp with the greasy stuff called Top Brass Anti Dandruff Cream.( Don't get me wrong the product does work, I just got tired of greasing my hair so often) Despite the price of the product it is well worth it.It also smells good, it doesn't smell like most medicated shampoos which is great. I have only used Nizoral twice and it seems to have done the trick. I haven't seen any dandruff yet. My dandruff was so bad that even after I washed my hair thoroughly, I would still see dandruff like I didn't even attempt to wash my hair. As of right now I wash my hair once a week( Due to the fact that I go to the beach every week.) However when I don't go to the beach or the pool I would like to change my washing routine to every 2 weeks. Anyhow if there are any other sisters out there that has a problem with dandruff. I say you should give Nizoral a try it just might work for you as well. Anyhow just thought I drop by and share that info. Until next time much love!

I've been tagged! Once Again By Zaharah

Well I see this game really gets around. I've been tagged once again by .Zaharah . However I don't mind sharing I'm not a stingy person.(I can be at times, lol.) Although I know it will be hard to state 7 more facts that you all don't know about me! Hmmmm lets see........
This time I try to make it a lil interesting by placing pictures with my facts hope you enjoy!

1. My real name is Valencia. I absolutely love my name. Some people call me V for short. Anyhow Valencia is of Spanish Origin and it's means strong. I found alot of interesting things about my name it is an type of orange and it is very sweet.( which means I'm sweet, lol) I also found out that its a type of peanut. The name is Valencia is a major city in Spain, and in Venezuela.I would love to visit Spain in the near future I heard it was a great place to visit.

2. I love to roller skate. It is my favorite hobby. I'm very good at it. I'm also good at speed skating and shuffle skating. I have a pair of skates that look very similar to these. If I could I would go skating every night!

3. Me and my hubby also my best friend( 11 years ) will be married for 3 years next month. I can't wait to celebrate. I don't have a more recent picture sorry.

4. For those of you that don't know I have a wonderful two year old son with another baby on the way. My son known as J is a handful. He keeps me busy 24/7 and unfortunately I have been experiencing his terrible two's it's not pretty! lol However I still have mad love for him. This is not a recent pic either as you all can see we are in need of some new family photos!

5.I just recently purchased Amy Winehouse's Cd and I love it. I can actually say that I love every single song that is on the album( however my most favorite is #5 Back to Black I can listen to her CD all day long) and that is the hard to find to these days. Now days most albums only have 3-4 good songs on them. I recommend this album to those who love jazz/soul music, she has an amazingly strong voice she actually gives me chills. This CD is different from all those that are out there now adays. I will warn you that some of her choice of words are not rated pg but that's what I like about this Cd she is keeping it real and she is being deep at the same time. I have a question does anyone know if this lady has an eating disorder or has gone through something serious? Because she looks extremely thin and I saw an older picture of her where she looked healthier! Okay enough about her. This post is suppose to be about me right!?

6. I own a 1987 Box Chevy Caprice. It was my first car. I'm still in love with it although it could use a lil work the engine is still in good condition. I found out the me and Carmen have a few things in common as far as fixed up Big cars, loud music and thugged out looking men(lol), I also love big cars also known as boy cars. My favorite right now is the Dodge Charger, also the Grand Marquis and the Crown Vic both of these cars are very similar they just have different names. I have collage here for you, the pic with me and my heavy Chevy was back in 2004 in my skinny and weaved out days! lol The rest are the cars that I mentioned above.

7. I have a very big crush and I'm absolutely in love with Jay-Z and his music and everything else about him. I have been a very big fan of his from day one! Way back when he was kickin' it with Jazz. Although my friends try to pick on him about his looks or lips.(I still think his is fine and has a great personality) I always say those lips can come in handy some day! (lol) If you know what I mean. Okay I apologize for being naughty. I was just kidding. (Somewhat ..... ha ha)

Well I'm not sure who I shall tagged next lets see... I wonder if this game will ever end?

Guess Who's Next?

If you already been tagged I apologize . However it is hard to keep up with this game

1 Year Loc-Versary

I am surprised that it's been a year already, I am also happy with my Sisterlocks. My hair has really made a transformation. A transformation that I thought would never come. Before I went natural I had issues with my hair, I had very thin hair. I have had thin hair almost my whole life. When I first got Sisterlocks I was skeptical about the thinness and spaces but my consultant Alandria assured me that it would change I just had to be patient and boy was she right. Slowly but surely my locks started making changes and as I look back I can't believe that it is such a big difference. Getting Sisterlocks was and still is the best decisions that I have ever made for my hair. I wish that I would've done it sooner. Getting Sisterlocks was the best choice for me although I love any type or style of locks. I love Sisterlocks for their size and how their method of locking allows you to wash your hair.

Here is a collage of my Sisterlocks one year ago. My first week I must admit I was afraid to wear my Sisterlocks in public because of the spaces and the thinness so I wore a wig but I got tired of that quickly.

This is a collage of my Sisterlocks now. I think they have really thickened up and have filled in nicely. What do you think? I'm just glad that I didn't give up and hung in there. ( Paying all that money to have them installed wouldn't allow me to give up anyway! lol)

As of now my Sisterlocks are doing pretty well. Despite that I don't think that I have been paying them much attention lately. (Due to severe morning sickness). I still have thin edges but other than that everything else is okay. I still have to braid and band. I wonder how long will it take for me to be fully locked? I still have a some unsealed ends and I'm not sure what to do with them, does anyone have any suggestions? During this time I decided that I need to start taking better care of my Sisterlocks like I'm suppose to as far as wash them when needed, grease my scalp when needed (I have dandruff problems), and treat them to a nice style every now and then (they deserve it lol).

Here is a pic of the products I use. The first is a spray bottle with Apple Cider Vinegar. I use this because it helps with cleaning my scalp and my dandruff problems. I use this one to two times a month. The next is the Sisterlocks Salon Formula Shampoo I have finally graduated from the Starter Shampoo. This shampoo lasts a very long time using the spray bottles are very good idea. The next is Avalon Organics Clarifying Shampoo it's the Lemon with Shea Butter. I absolutely love this shampoo it leaves my locks feeling so great and clean it is very refreshing. I think BlaqKofi recommended this product, thanks Blaq! Next is Top Brass Anti-Dandruff this is a very good product and it works when you use it! (Note to self use this product more often to help control dandruff) Next I have Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Temple Balm , I have thin edges so I hope this product works. I heard great reviews about this product, only if I would use this more often as well maybe I would be able to tell a difference. Last but not least Jamaican Mango & Lime Shine-A-Loc. I used this product for the first time yesterday it smells so good and it really moisturizes my locks I just love it. Now I have to refrain myself from using it everyday, lol.

Being that my 1 year loc-versary was a special occasion I decided to treat myself and go shopping. So I headed out to Sally's. I finally bought my self a Caruso Steam Rollers Set and I can't wait to use it. I also purchased a Turbie -Twist I heard so much about them. I also decided to purchase some more hard rollers because every time I go to roll my hair with my old ones I always find less and less rollers, plus these are a little larger which means bigger curls and bigger bounce! Once again the Jamaican Mango & Lime Shine-A-Loc. I know I hear people say to stay away from oils and such because our hair produces its own oils but I couldn't resist I just had to and I'm glad that I did.

Well I think I've written more than enough this should make up for my long absence! Lol. I'm glad to be back. Just an update I did have a talk with my consultant about getting my hair wet in the pool and beach water and she said it was fine as long as I braided and banded and washed my hair thoroughly afterwards. I was relieved now I can go on with my Summer without any worries! I also asked my consultant about coloring my hair but I have to wait until I'm fully locked, I think I can manage until then.

P.S I did update My Fotki so please take a look it has a lot more photos. I have updated my months 7-9 as well as my One Year Loc-Versary. I will be constantly updating so you are more than welcome to visit. I hope you enjoy until next time much love.

I'm Back..... For Now Anyways

Yes I'm still alive! I know that I have been missing in action but alot has been going on recently and at one point getting on the computer was not important to me. Well let me update you with hair issues first. My locks have really grown and thickened up. I really love how they are turning out. I wish I could show you an update but my hubby broke the camera and I'm expecting a new one any minute now . I hope it comes today! Anyhow I'm sure it will come either before or on my 1 year Loc-Versary! Which is June 1st! I cannot believe that its almost been a year time has gone by so fast and I really can tell a difference. I haven't been in to styling my hair lately mostly free styling. However when I do style my hair I roll them up in hard rollers which is still my favorite set of rollers for now I just love the way my hair comes out with so much bounce and volume! I have to try my Soft Spikes again some day and I still haven't purchased a Caruso yet hopefully soon. Still braiding and banding a lot of my ends are still not sealed but I'm okay with that sometimes I do wish there was something I could do about it. Lately I've been going to the beach and pool alot and I want go under water so badly but I'm not sure if I can. I'm going to ask my consultant but I want to know has anyone ever gone swimming and was able to go under water with out any problems or is there anyone out there that does a few tricks to their hair so that they are able to go swimming? Also does salt water or chlorine water damage our hair well I think it can but how does it damage our hair? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from being damaged? I know those are alot of questions but I live in Miami and it is hot down here and I love getting in the water but I can't enjoy it fully. I wasn't able to take the retightening class due to my sickness but I'm still going to go for it. I know the next class won't be down here again until the end of the year hopefully I can wait that long. Or maybe I'll find another class sooner in a another nearby city.

Anyhow on to other things I have special news to share with you that explains my being absent. I'm expecting in November, me and my hubby are really excited. However the first few months of this pregnancy really took a toll on me. I experienced severe nausea and vomiting which caused severe dehydration and weakness. I wasn't able to keep nothing down which also caused me to lose 20 pounds. I tried every trick in the book and nothing worked. I guess it was something that I had to deal with. Anyhow I'm doing much better now and have a lot more energy, even to get on the computer! lol, During my absenteeism I went to Kentucky to visit family and I also went to Chicago to go see The Color Purple the play was very good, I'm glad that I had the opportunity to see the play. I also made a stop in Atlanta to see some more family. I enjoyed myself on the trip. Anyhow I missed you guys and I know I have a lot of catching up to do and I'm sure there are a lot of new members. Also I dread going to check my yahoo account because I have all the messages that are posted on lock it up forwarded to my address. I haven't checked my email in 3 months so I know it is ridiculous can anyone tell me how to take that feature off? Anyhow I will be back I promise this time to update you on hair pics. Until next time much love.

9 Month Mark! & Hair Update!

Hey to all my Sista's & Brotha's out there I hope all is well. I know its been a minute since I've blogged. I have been so very busy. I haven't been on in a while and it feels like I've missed out on so much! Anyhow it is now 9 months for me it's hard to believe because it feels like only yesterday since I got my Sisterlocks installed for the first time! Having Sisterlocks is such a wonderful feeling. I feel free. There is nothing like waking up in the morning and not have to worry about doing your hair. Having Sisterlocks saves so much time that you can spend on other things. I have learned so much during this journey and the most important thing I've learned was patience! About a week or two ago I had my hair retightened and my consultant updated me about my hair. Basically everything is cool I just have to be more patient because its taking my hair a little longer than I had planned to lock! I can honestly say that I think I have about 2 or 3 locks that are fully locked! Maybe more but I know that its not more than 10! lol. I still have to braid and band alot of my ends are still not sealed! However I have graduated from the Starter Shampoo to the Salon Shampoo Aloe Formula. I was happy to hear that! I found out that my hair is alot softer than what I thought which was the total opposite very hard! Lol, My consultant told me what the deal was. It feels good to know that I have soft hair, I guess that explains why my hair is taking a long time to lock. She also informed me that the Aloe Formula was better for me because the Green Tea formula would make my hair too soft which is not what I need right now. My consultant did say that it would kind of be hard for my hair to come out right now which is good to hear! So right now all is well with my hair and I'm loving every minute of it!

I plan to take the retigthening class down here next month. I'm really excited about it. (I know Lashunae said she was thinking about taking the class too, so Lashunae if your still on I look forward to meeting you. Anyways I have to admit I was afraid to tell my consultant at first because I wasn't sure how she would take it. She took it pretty good and I'm glad that she didn't get offended or upset in fact she said that I should go that if I went it would be a good experience and I would learn many things.

My favorite hair style right now is me setting my hair on hard rollers. My hair comes out so soft with large curls and my locks have alot of bounce and body now which is great! I can't keep my hands out of my hair and sometimes I can't stop myself from swinging my head just so I can feel my locks moving back and forth!lol (I've noticed that my hair has gotten longer which is another great feeling. I have yet to measure it yet). Anyhow for those who look at my fotki. I'm in the process right now of getting that together. I will blog again when I'm finally finished and you let you all have a look at the updates!

Also just a small update I'm loving my new house right now it's wonderful(I have my own closet!)It's a whole lot more cleaning but it's worth it. Another small update on my weight loss so far I have lost 8.6 pounds in 1 month it was 10 but then i gained a pound in a half at the last minute but 8 is still good. Anyhow I must go now and try to catch up on every one's blog you all have a good one and until next time much love!
