Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

Sisterlocks @ 1 Month

I'm so in love with my Sisterlocks.

The Lighting is a little off but you can tell I'm happy!

I thought getting them back would never happen.

Not much has changed in a month. Except for that some of my locks have already begun to swell and I have lots of curly q's. However the locks in the front haven't budged and they probably wont until some months from now. It took my hair to completely lock in 2 yrs. I sure hope this is not the case this time around, but whatever it maybe it doesn't matter. I'm all smiles overhere.

The only issues I have is my scalp. My dandruff has come back to haunt me :(
My scalp is really dry and flakes just keep reproducing like crazy. I might have to give in and start oiling my scalp because I cant stand the itch or the look, its not a good one.

Sisterlocks @ 1 Month

I really haven't been doing much to my hair. I went a whole month without washing my hair, because I wanted to prevent my shorter locks from coming out. It did help but when I washed it before my 1st retightening majority of them slipped anyway. Every other day I spritz my hair with water only and maybe 2-3 times a week I spritz my hair with a rosemary/tea tree essential oil and water mixture.

Sisterlock Starter Shampoo: Really can't give a review because I only used it once. I do love the way it smells, and I noticed that it relieved the itching after I washed my hair. However I do notice that it is a lil drying. I will continue to use it because I know it will help aid in the locking progress.

Styling: As far as styling I haven't been doing much of that. The most I've done was set my hair on rollers once or twice. I also use flowers and headbands, flowers more than headbands, I don't want to put too much pressure on my already weak edges. They are a must in the beginning. Other than that I just keep things simple. Hoping my locks will locks sooner than later, but I know I really have no control over that.

You can see the dry scalp around my hairline...

Quantity vs Quality: I did get a chance to count my locks. I have close to 400 give or take. Not really stuck on the number more focused on the quality. I'll be glad when my locks fill in... Sisterlocks works wonders for people with thin hair and I'm so greatful!

Flowers are my favorite hair accessories!

Anyhow I will keep you all posted on my journey.....It feels good to be back

New Sisterlocks

Pre Sisterlocks & New Color

Never thought this day would come! I am over joyed, I finally got my Sisterlocks.... My First Love, lol.  Almost a year ago, I let go of my 1st set of Sisterlocks in hopes of getting rid of the imperfections I found in my locks( lumps, wholes, thinned locks in the middle, broken locks,  2 and 3 headed locks) as well as hopes of my hair growing back, after suffering post partum hair loss.

Well after several months I have realized that I not only suffered hair loss after having a baby but also suffered some sort of allopecia. I have several small bald spots that are smooth as can be and I know there will be no hair growing back in those places :(    Anyhow I'm optimistic because although my hair is genetically thin, I know that Sisterlocks (small locks in general) will make my hair grow really long and make my hair appear thicker then it really is. Which is why I chose to lock my hair with Sisterlocks again, besides loving them so much.

Anyhow this time around I decided to change up the color, and get them a little smaller to create fullness. Some areas locks had to be made according to what was going on around the particular lock for example , smaller or a little bigger.

As of  now... like anyone not really feeling the skinned chicken look, but hey I can't do anything but wait and be patient. I already know that my locks are going to make an awesome transformation. I just have to sit back and enjoy the journey as much as I can. I initially opted to get a prosthetic hair piece to help create fullness of my locks due to the fact that I had very short hair (barely an inch or less)  in the middle. However my Consultant was able to grip the hair and make locks, which really made me happy, because I just knew it wasn't possible. I know for sure those locks will not stay once I wash my hair, simply because they are too short.  However it gives me hope. I still might use the piece temporarily but I know I wont need it for long :)

Although I am a Certified Consultant and can fix a lock or locks as soon as a problem occurs. I'm going to try my best to prevent any problems. For one no products besides water spritz and the Sisterlocks Starter Shampoo. I figure the more compliant I am the sooner my locks will lock.  I plan on getting my hair retightened every 3-4 weeks, no greater than 4. In the beginning I will let my Consultant retighten my hair just because I liked to be pampered.... unless I get bored. Don't really have any styling options right now but I plan to were curls and more curls because it helps create a little fullness in the beginning,

New Sisterlocks
My hair is about 3 1/2 to 4 inches all around 1 inch or less in the middle areas. The process took over 2 days i think around 20 hrs give or take.  Not sure how many locks I have but I am curious to know. I will count them one day.

Although I'm not new at this I'm more in love this time around then I was the first time. I will be blogging more often if time permits.

So let the new journey begin......

Stay tuned for updates

Until Next Time Much Love
