Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

I miss my Sisterlocks

I've really been trying to keep my composure, but it's hard.

I really miss my Sisterlocks and can't wait to get them back.

It's been 10 months since I cut my hair

Although cutting my hair was not hard and it probably was the best decision for my hair, at that time. I still miss my locks.

When I missed the opportunity to learn my natural hair before getting locks, I just new this time I would enjoy the loose natural journey. I was wrong. I wont say that I don't enjoy it and I wont say that I love it either. I have come to realize that "Locks" are for Me.
I guess I'm having a hard time finding for products that work for my hair, and because of the short length I feel as if I can't do much with it anyway. I'm actually tired of looking for products and cant stand putting so much different products in my hair. When I first started out I was using the carrier oils (like olive oil, jojoba, almond, and coconut oil), along with essential oils in a water spritz, and for my thick moisturizer I would have a Shea butter mix. Those worked well for me, and then I shied away thinking that I needed some products to "make" my hair curl, to get that hair texture that majority of us wish we had.

I have since learned for my hair type those products just don't work for me and plus they were starting to make my hair fragile and break off. So I'm going to go back to my homemade spritz and moisturizer. Hopefully this will stop the breakage, I'd rather have my hair break off/shed in locks then fall on the floor, lol.

The problem I'm facing is now my hair is still really bald/thin & short in some areas. It's not even all over. I would like to start my locks with an even set of hair, but that seems unlikely. I really need to break down and see a dermatologist to see if they can help. For the most part I have enough length to start locks, but I feel insecure about those thin spots. However I feel that Sisterlocks are great at making your hair appear thicker than they really are. If all hope is lost maybe I'll invest in one of those prosthetic pieces for Sisterlocks. I guess it wont hurt, it will sure beat having to comb my hair everyday:)

I would like to lock my hair soon and real soon, however I'm going to try and holdout till the end of the year to see if those thin spots start filling in. I will keep you all posted

Until Next Time Much Love

Hi Thandi

I will admit my diet its not that great, I can do a lot better. I do take supplements but I'm not consistent. I've also been stressing lately so I'm sure all those play a roll, I just knew those thin areas would have been better by now...

Awww babe I totally understand why you would feel so frustrated. Have you tried the Shea Moisture line? I use it on my daughter's hair, which is very fragile, and it has worked wonders.
To grow my loose, weak, and damaged hair, I used Aloe vera gel, jojoba oil, rosemary and green tea extract. I also noticed that using Castor oil on my ends helped to stop breakage.

hope this helps

I read all of your post since you cut your locks. I cut my locks too because I hair loss and thinning around the edges and at the crown. Your Pros and Cons are on point (lol) I am growing out my hair too and there are times I miss my locks. We will be fine. Glad your hair is growing back... your short hair looks good on you too.
