Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

6 Month Mark

I can't believe it's been 6 months. The time is really flying! It seems like yesterday I was just getting my locks started. Now its been a whole 6 months before you know it, it will be a year! I can't wait to see what changes my hair will go through and all the different comparisons. Anyhow my hair is doing fine I think. However I think it could do a little better. I found another lock that is thinning in the middle and I also found a loc that is bascially split in two but at the roots. I am ashamed to say that I do not know how this occured and I would like to know what I could do to prevent little mishaps like these from happening again. I noticed that the troubled locs that I do have they are all in the front of my hair line. I'm starting to wonder does this have a connection to my hairline being really thin and weak? I'm not sure whatever the case maybe I'm starting to get worried. I'm really trying to hang in there but if this continues to happen I'm not sure what I'll do. Anyhow with that in mind. I haven't been using the Organic Root Stimulator Temple Balm like I should. I try not to use it to much because it is very creamy and I'm still in the beginning of the locking phase. However I just might have to make that sacrafice so that I can have some hair to lock! (lol) As far as the rest of my hair it is doing great I notice my back area is the thickest and my locks in the back are starting to look like locks! I havent taken any updated pictures yet which is due to laziness. However I get my hair retightened tommorrow so I will take some tommorow and post them ASAP. However I did leave you with a pic that was taken on Turkey Day. I decided to follow Tanya's advice and wear one of Brunsl's Hair Ties like a headband instead and that idea worked out great. What do you think? Well its been fun sharing my journey thus far, hello to all the pro's and good luck to all the one's whose journey is just beginning! Much love until next time!

That looks great on you! I'm glad you gave it a try.

There definitely is something up with the locks at the hairline. Now that my locks are finally getting some length - I have a few
"dangerously" thin locks at the hairline I might have to combine in the future.

You are being very proactive in keeping your hair healthy so I think you are doing the right thing and your locks will be just fine.

To Tanya Thanks for your compliment.

The headband looks nice. You'll be wearing a hair tie before you know it.

I hear you on the locks at the hair line. The hair line at the temples is my problem area. My consultant had to combine some of my locks at the hair line in my early days of locking. With patience and care they'll be just fine

To Quietspirit thanks for the compliment. My consultant just cobined two of my locks because they were too thin and they would always come loose.

Happy Anniversary! I like to also say thanks for including my blog in your list. It made me smile to know that someone considered me. Also your locks are doing great. I too have hair that I consider thin at the temples. Unsure if it's heredity or relaxer influenced. But, I'll soon be posting a pic of a couple of locs that I thot would never grow. These sistas are fast growers but they're doing their thing slowly but showly. They haven't come unraveled either. I bind one of them with a flat hair pin during washing. Sorry for the long reply I just wanted u to know ya not alone.

A lot of my hairline locks have been combined too. I think our hair texture and thickness is different all over, so there's a bit of empirical work before we have the locks that are right for us.

I think the headband looks cute!

Since you have several ties, try mixing and matching the headband crossbar toggle and elastic with the other pieces so you can use them all. :)

To: Valenciajaz,
Thank you! I was having that problem too with one or two of them unraveling while washing, so I clip them down so they don't come apart.

To: Brunsli,
Thank you Brunsli, I had know idea that the hair ties could come a loose I will have to try that!
