Okay so I have came to terms that my hair is NOT thick nor will it ever be. However this is the healthiest my hair has ever been so I shouldn't complain. I should be happy that I still have some hair left due to all the damage and mistreatment that I put my hair through! Anyhow so since I don't have thick hair I have learned ways to make my hair appear full. Roller sets are my favorite they really create the illusion that my hair is full. Also twist outs and braid outs work as well. As long as my hair is not straight it looks fuller! (In the side pic this is how my hair looks when nit is wet, flat and thin like paper, lol)

Lately I still have been thinking about starting my lock over. I'm still not happy with some of my locks in the front. Some have broken off(Which I think is due to the dye that I put in before I initially got my locks)Don't worry this hasn't happen recently but has happened over the years. Anyhow it just seems that my hair is really week in the front. For instance before I had my daughter I had started 5 new baby locks and soon after they all disappeared! No seriously is like they fell out one by one. Is there anything out there that can help my thinned and weak edges? Please let a sista know. I've decided that I will wait another year and if I'm still not completely happy with my locks I may start them over. I'm not sure which route I may go but it may be Braidlocks or Sisterlocks. ( In this pic I'm trying a bantu set the results are in the pics below with different styles).
Okay enough of my soap box. Don't get me wrong, overall I do love my hair this is the healthiest and longest my hair has ever been. So going natural was the greatest thing I ever did and I wouldn't have it any other way! I am fast approaching my 2 year mark which is next month and my locks are still not 100% locked, it's okay I'm over it. I had to combine a few more of my locks in the front due to the thinness so hopefully that should help. Retightenings still take me forever. I have learned waiting 8 weeks in between IS NOT for me. I HAVE to retighten my hair every 4 weeks, no matter what! I really wanted to dye my hair for my 2 year anniversary but I really don't think that is a good idea so I'll wait a little while longer. Overall I think my hair is doing pretty good I just probably need to take a chill pill!
Below are the results of my Bantu Knots. They came out really good in the front and the top but in the back the curls dropped pretty quick.

On to other things remember when I said I was going to start running? I was serious. I have started running and I recently just ran my first 5K! I had such a great experience! My intentions was to run and walk during the race but due to all the excitement and all the other runners. I couldn't stop my body wouldn't let me! So I ran the whole race. For those that don't know a 5K is 3.1 miles! I can't believe that I ran the whole thing, I am still amazed. And another thing it only took me 35 mins! I think that is an awesome time for a beginner like me! I'm officially addicted to running! Me and DH( his first) are suppose to run in another race next month and I can't wait! As for weight loss still working on that I have loss a total of 19 pounds so far, still have a lot more to go but I think I'm on the right path now!

Speaking of DH he decided to try this locking process one more time. ( They say the third time is a charm) We shall see. This time he decided to go the braidlock method. The only thing we are concerned about is his ends. To all you braidlockers out there or to who any that may know. What do you do with them. His hair is so puffy at then ends. As of now he has rubber bands on the ends to keep them from coming a loose but I'm not sure if that will help. So if you have any suggestions please be sure to leave a comment. He was not concerned about having neat parts so it was just a grab and braid routine. I think that they may turn out nice if he decides to keep them. His last attempts didn't last more than two months so I'm not holding my breath. If this does last I'll be sure to update, if you don't see any updates you know that it didn't last.
Sorry for the long post I had so mcuh to update you all on. I recently started back working so thats why I have been MIA. I'll try not to be a stranger and plus next month will be two years so I have to come back! Lol Anyhow I hope all is well with everyone. Take Care
Until Next time much love!

Your hair looks great! It doesn't look thin at all, I don't know what you're talking about!
Congrats on your 5K and weight loss! You go girl!
I too have had difficulties getting the front locks to grow and not break off. When I look back at some of my earlier pictures, I can see progress though. For me, I try to not put any tension on the locks in the front. That has helped the most. The hair on the top and front has a softer and more fragile texture than the rest of the hair. You may want to try pin setting the front locks instead of using curlers.
Stay blessed!!!
Congrats! Running a 5K? after having a newborn? That's terrific!
I think you should be real easy with the tension styles like bantus. Try not to make them as tight. Avoid tight ponytails and curling yur locks too tightly.
For areas damaged in your scalp I recommend Emu oil or vitamin e capsules rubbed directly in your scalp. Don't worry! Over time, hair will grow in between your locks!
Regarding DH, can you braid his hair down to the ends and braid extra tight at the ends? Maybe making them a tad smaller would help?
BTW, your hair doesn't look thin to me and welcome back to blogging and the work force! LOL!
I love all the styles you wear! As for the weak edges, I have them to, I just leave them alone. I won't dare put my hair in a ponytail for more than a couple minutes until I can do it without a great deal of tension.
Congratulations on your 5K!! You do the dern thing!!!19lbs!!?? You're AWESOME!! Are you still doing WW?
We'll both be 2 years locked next month!!!!!WOW!!!
Hey there,
I'm sorry about some of your locks breaking off. Have you discussed this with your consultant...maybe she has some good tips as well
Also, congrats on the 5K! And the weight loss. You are inspiring. Keep it goin'. I'm sending you a high five from Illinois!
Be well and best wishes!
I told you -- you are my Superwoman girl. Running the entire 5K is beyond impressive. Of course you will get better and continue to shed more pounds.
How often do you deep condition your locks?
I agree with the suggestions left above. But I still think your locks look great.

Thanks for the compliments, I guess its better if you seen my hair in public. I won't complain anymore, I think I'm over it.

Thanks for the tips. However due to the damaged caused wearing braids back in the day. I know not to put tension on my hair. I mostly wear braidouts and freestyles. I don't curl my hair as much as I used and when I do use rollers I usually roll the front of my hair very loose! I just hope one day soon my hairline will get stronger.

Hey thanks for the compliments. Thats what I don't understand what is going on with my hair. I hardly ever put tension on my hair I usually freestlyle all day everyday. That is my second bantu set ever since I had sisterlocks. I still don't wear ponytails I only did that for pictures, lol. But due the tension I felt that ponytail only lasted 2 mins!
Thanks for the tips with my DH's hair I will try it this weekend!
Take Care

Hey Girl, I still don't wear ponytails comfortably either so don't feel bad those pics where for blogging purposes only, lol!
Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately I had ot Kick WW's to the curb, it started getting too expensive to me. Plus I wasn't happy with my results! So I just started counting calories and exercising like crazy! Lol

Thanks for the high 5 and the compliments. I do my hair on my own and don't actually have a consultant anymore. ( Long Story) Anyhow I'll just try to be patient and put even less tension on my hair!
*Goodnapps
Thanks for all of the nice compliments. As far as deep conditioning the last time I deep conditioned my hair was in December and the time before that was in June. I try not to do it often because my hair is sitll not completely locked( especially in the front) I was afraid it will make my hair come a loose. I hear a lot of people say you shouldn't condition your hair, but I'm starting to think other wise! Do you think that will help?
Take Care
Hey, so glad to see you are back with us. Congratulations on the weight loss and the 5k run. Wow! Your hair looks great! Not thin at all to me. And I love all the styles. Definately keep the tension off the front to keep the thinning down. I heard that massaging your hair line or where ever it is thinning helps stimulate growth as well. Stay blessed :-)
Congrats on the 5k! Girl you will be doing 5k's in your sleep and ready for the 10k in a minute.
Your hair doesn't look thin to me but I do understand the weak edges because mine are gradually growing in now. I didn't do a lot of styling of my locs so I thinkt that is what helped mine to grow. I've heard about that EMU oil but I haven't tried it.
Congratulations on running your first 5k!! I'm so proud of you and you did very well for a beginner, 35 min.! My first 5K took me 27 min. so I know that you will cut your time down by a few more mintues the next time you run. You'll be surprised. Kudos to you!!
Wow! You are accomplishing a lot. congrats on you run and weight loss! My hair was a little weak along the hairline too, it was mainly from brushing my hair to hard to put it in a ponytail. I decided to cut my locks down in the front within the first few months of having my locks, I cut them down to the point where I saw they were growing in healthy. I ended up cutting them down to about an inch. I am happy to report that they are growing in healthy, they are shorter than my other locks but I don't mind. Your hair is more mature than mines. Not sure if it will help or not.

Thanks for the compliments!
Your hair is looking wonderful. Congratulations of the 5k, something else to be proud of. As far as locking, I am almost 1.5 years into this journey and my hair ain't near locked. Due to my hair being different textures, however, I am learning to just let it do what it does. I understand being over it though.
Cute, cute, cute :) Also, Congrats on the run and the weight loss :)
YOU GO G-U-R-LLLLLLL!!!!!!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for all the lovely comments!
I think some sort of conditioning is important. A leave in concoction is good if you don't want to deep condition.
Congratulations on the run girl! I am so proud of you.
Congrats on the 5K race achievement! I like the results of the bantu knots. You have me wondering will my hair take over two years to lock! Some parts of my hair are locking, but overall, it looks like a long process. My hair is too stubborn. :-)

WOW! Look at you,(less of you) and your hair (more of it)! You and your hair look wonderful and running a 5k is an ambition of mine.
Dang Girl, keep on doing what you are doing, such changes and all for the better! You are my hero!
Your hair looks thick to me but I know that what really counts is your own opinion. Give it another year, I'm sure you'll be happy with the decision to wait.
