Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

Vegetarian to Vegan

As far as food is concerned....

I finally made the dicision to kick the eggs, milk & cheese! It took me a long time to get to this point. A week ago I tested myself to see how long I could go without the eggs and the cheese and I did better than I thought I would.I could deal without the cow milk since finding Almond milk I feel like I'm in heaven when I drink it. I was still tempted by the cheese every now and then, but I do realize it's not that serious and I should be able to live without cheese, lol.

Another reason I finally decided to let go of the dairy and eggs is because even after being a vegetarian for almost 2 years my cholesterol was high at my recent check up. I do understand that my high cholesterol could also be due to genetics but I'm still upset about the results.

Although I have stopped eating meat for almost two years, I still haven't been eating or making the healthiest food choices. So I am also on my quest to eat healthier, I'm decreasing all the rice, bread and pasta to hopefully 1-3 servings a week, and decreasing my sugar intake as well. Which will be a challenge, considering that I have several sweet teeth, lol. We shall see...

Do to all this non exercise and excesive eating of all the wrong things, I have since put back on weight, so getting my but back in gear and exercising is imperative which I will discuss in my Running/ Weight Loss Blog.

Anyhow as far as my family me any my hubby decided that we should let the kids eat fish and only fish. It was hard to come to that conclusion but I do think it is for the best. My hubby even left me for fish, lol. Just kidding well sort of, so now I'm the loner, it's ok. They can have the fish. So now I'm off to reading the book that I never finished, Becoming Vegan by Brenda Davis & Vesanto Melina. It's very informative.

I look at the bright side because now this will force me to cook more, (Which I'm not to fond of, Thank God my DH love's to cook) Anyhow I will look to Meikmeika's Blog for inspiration, she makes is look so easy. I will attempt to cook 1-2 new meals per week, (I have to take baby steps, lol) Wish me luck yall, hopefully I won't have cheese withdrawls, lol.

So that's I need to do. Give up the meat. I tried that back in the day. I couldn't do it. All I wanted was fried fish. Does that count as healthy? It was fish. However when I got serious grilled fish was the best on my foreman grill. Good luck girl. Beautiful boys!!! Were you always a runner? I visit your blog often but I don't always post. Sorry. Your hair is growing nicely. Cute hat and glasses.

Hey Girl,
I wish I could come because I have a friend that is also having a baby shower, but I have to work that weekend, so it's a negative. Maybe next year, if I'm not up there already, lol. Thanks for the complements.

beign a vegetarian/vegan is possible, you just have to put your mind to it. Baked fish and grilled fish are better options than fried.
No Iwasn't always a runner, I just started last year, and it gives me such a high, when I'm consistent, lol. thanks for the nice comments.

Thandi

It is a pitty, thanks for the offer anyways, lol.

Congrats on going vegan! I am vegetarian myself. I was vegan from the day I was born, then kept on shifting from vegan to vegetarian. I have started to cook and structure my diet more now myself. So as long as my mom and my bro don't go to a certain pastry store I am set LOL.

There are a lot of interesting tasty recipes and pastries you can make from strictly vegan ingredients. The key is not to get in contact with a tasty looking cheesy or milk chocolately looking specimen.

Check out this site
http://www.fatfreevegan.com/. There are many more too, but that's the one I have been on a lot from the other day. Enjoy

Meikmeiki's site is excellent too, now that's motivation right there!

Your family is gorgeous, and I don't know where you're coming from in terms of your weight, but you are certainly looking great as is. :)

Me again, check out this site too. Eating low fat meals is one thing, but eating foods that boost your metabolism is really the key to continued weight loss. Check out this site: -

LOL!! I'm so behind on checking on all my favorite bloggers...

I know you're going to do impeccably!! When I initially went vegan I ate alot of Amy's products and veganized alot of my non-vegan favorite recipes, i.e. spaghetti, tacos, lasagna, burgers & fries...
The book you're reading is probably the most informative book on going vegan. The nutrition portion is invaluable.

You're awesome!!!!
