Hello my name is Valencia but you can call me V. After years of damaging my hair, I knew there had to be a better way. So I decided to take the path to go natual and lock up. I was Sisterlcoked from June 2006 until Sept 2010 (4yrs). In which during that time I truly enjoyed my hair freedom. Unfortunately my journey had to come to end due to post partum hair loss. I have recently started a new journey this past September, and looking forward to all the ups and downs. As a new Sisterlocks™ Consultant I want to give women and men that same freedom.

New Locs? = New Hair Routine

I'm referring to my baby locs that is, I have several new ones. Due to the fact that when I was severely ill earlier on in my pregnancy, I wasn't able to take care of my locs the way I was suppose to. Which led to months of my locs not being retightened, a big NO NO. So my hair suffered, which also led to several locs becoming married together and breaking off. Should I be mad? I was at first but there is nothing I could do about it. It is only hair, right? It will grow back. I was thinking about reattaching my locks once they became locked, but then I might leave them be because then my locks will be somewhat layered.

Anyhow since I have several new locks I basically have to start over and treat all of my locks like they are brand new. I do want my new locks to lock fast so whatever I have to do to speed up that process I will do. This means keeping things simple and less products. There is no sure way knowing that this will work but it is worth a try. I also started braiding and banding again (
only the new locs) So I have a new hair routine.

Washing: Due to my scalp issues I HAVE to wash my hair/scalp once a week to keep the dandruff at bay. The products I use is Nizoral which is an anti-dandruff shampoo. This shampoo does wonders for my scalp, I will always be a fan of Nizoral Shampoo . This shampoo works without giving you that tingling feeling that makes you think the product is working. I also started back washing with the Sisterlock Starter Shampoo . Not really sure if I'm a fan of this shampoo, but hey whatever it takes. I also tried a new shampoo Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo , not sure if I'm a fan of this shampoo either, but I love the way it smells! When my baby locks are matured I plan on going back and sticking to my all time favorite Fantasia IC 100% Tea Shampoo . When diluted this shampoo lasts for days!

Condition: No conditioners!

Spritzing: I only spritz with sea salt water. I heard that sea salt is suppose to aid in the locking process, not sure if this statement is true but it's worth a shot. I spritz with this about three times a week.

Misc.: Due to the fact that I do have dandruff issues the only other product I use is Jamaican Mango & Lime No More Itch Spray . This also helps with keeping my dandruff at bay and plus it smells great! I use this (only on my scalp) about two times a week.

Rinses: I do an ACV rinse about once a month, right before I get my hair retightened.
This also helps with cleansing the scalp and the itches!

Styling: I haven't been doing much styling lately. I usually freestyle or put my locs in a ponytail. Wow it feels good to say that, never thought I would be able to reach that milestone. When I am up to styling I usually do braidouts. I used my Soft Spikes , once recently. The curls came out great, however it rained that day and I didn't have my umbrella! I will share pics of them before. I think I may purchase the longer soft spikes in the future as my locks are getting longer.

Coverings: I now keep my hair covered at night and sleep on a silk "type" covering. I am dealing with lint, and it is really bothering me that i can't seem to get rid of it so to prevent my lint build up from worsening. I now keep my hair covered as much as possible.
Anyhow that is pretty much it, I keep it simple. Two shampoos, water spritz, and only one product for my scalp.

I leave you with a few recent pics of my locs.

This first collage is of pics of my hair during washing, after washing, and braids/braidout.

These are a few pics with my soft spikes and results.

Happy New Year! I wish I could deal with the ACV, but I just can't tolerate the smell.

Thanks for the compliments ladies. I think all this growth is coming from the baby, I just hope it doesn't fall out afterwards, like with my 2nd baby.
